Beatport is super gay!

So this is kind of a venting story, but I decided to do Deadmau5’s remix contest, paid in everything. Go to submit it, and it says the “time period has expired” WHAT?! by my time its only 8:30 (Arizona, US). Clearly they are going off of London time which is 2am but no where does it show it needs to be submitted at midnight london time, they dont even show where they are located. WTF IS WITH THAT! clearly im really frustrated, spent 2 weeks on this song and to have this happen. I emailed them but now am waiting for a response back. Any suggestions of what I should do?

Go postal!! …

Is there any email addresses that you can send a link to your track on? I’m sure if they listen and like what they hear then they’ll open the doors for you!

im contemplating it ahah, not really though. I dont see why they should allow the submission, I want to find their email thats not one of those auto forms. But I also put a preview in my soundcloud so you guys can at least hear it.

*side thought: I’m thinking if they dont accept ill just send it to Mau5trap records A&R and be like I should have an equal chance as anyone else. I’m bias but I think it was well produced.

Sofi Needs A Ladder (Randy B. Loud Remix) - PREVIEW!!! by Randy B. Loud

another reason that i dont want to get in to Remix Competitions :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is something even gayer (since that is the title of the topic)

this is straight from the official rules:

“4. The submission phase begins on September 28th 2010 at 12.01AM MST and ends October 11th 2010 at 10.00 PM MST.”

I LIVE IN MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME! and I tried submitting at 8:30 and they said the time limit has expired and wouldn’t allow me to re upload!

I hope you explained that in an email.

Here is why I think Beatport is gay… when ever you’re listening to music, it brings you along the build then EVERYTIME, when the track is about to drop back in, the music stops just at that point!!

Anyways I’m sorry to say this bro, and nothing personal, but I think you’re a mug for purchasing the parts, no label would expect their artists to pay for the parts. Do you think Deadmau5 has ever had to pay for parts?

You could argue that it’s because he’s already established, but do you think he ever paid for parts when he wasn’t established?

I’m not established but the last remix i signed out, i didnt have to pay for the parts.

Remix competitions IMO are a farce, double the fact that you have to pay for the parts.

I know there are a few ‘pro paying for parts’ people on this forum, so horses for courses n all that, but i just don’t think it’s right, especially when it’s part of a remix competition.

It’s like telling DJ’s who are doing a DJ competition that they must pay entry to the club.

I usually agree with you that no one should promote for someone else and them getting tons of money by you promoting their work… but, I have always admired mau5’s techniques and got it for the stems not the contest. I actually learned a lot from the stems and It just so happened I made something in the process I was happy about. But that’s me and that has always been the way I learn best.

they worked it out. if you guys want to vote for it please do (but only if you like it) http://www.beatportal.com/remix/detail/sofi-needs-a-ladder-randy-b-loud-remix/

The latest comp is “Remix Underworld for Gear”.

Beatport is super gay ?

House — a term that originally referred to the kind of music you’d hear at the Warehouse, a gay nightclub in Chicago

No suprising really
