a decent midi keyboard for a not too outrageous price for a beginner and an audio interface, had a quick look on the web and seen some good prices, but just looking for advice on what you guys all know.
thanks
Ive gone on a whole year without an audio interface, rubbish headphones and a MIDI Keyboard and still find ways to produce.
If you are worried about cash these arent 100% necessary products (only 100% necessary product is the DAW itself, assuming it comes with some packaged Instruments and Samples).
It’ll prolly boost production quality from the start but you dont need it to learn the basics, all you need is a mouse and keyboard really.
ASIO Drivers are good enough to start up with IMO from there you can slowly build up your collection.
Whats the point in purchasing something cheap just so you can have it?
You may as well wait and invest in the better products IMO, otherwise your going to spend money now on the “rubbish” items and then spend again when your looking to invest in the better quality items…
To top it off a MIDI Keyboard will add more to what your going to have to learn, since your going to be spending time learning how to play it right and time yourself instead of learning actual production…
Just my opinion though, I am certain a lot of people will disagree with me…

M-Audio Axiom 49 midi controller
Presonus Inspire audio interface or worst case scenario, ASIO drivers with the on-board sound card.
these have both served me well for years and were pretty well priced.
If you’re from the states craigslist.org. Buy used. Guitar center also sell used equipment. But as already mentioned all you need a good DAW and some headphones. Thats how I have been getting down for the past year. Theres nothing you cant do with automation and clicking in your notes.
I picked up a new AKIA MPK Mini 25 for $100 a couple of months back. I never use it. I would sell it to you but Im too lazy and probably wouldnt make anything worth while. Only gripe was the small keys. Other than that its solid and inexpensive.
thanks guys, just went for a basic alesis Q49, seems to do the job.
