Hey guys i would love to recreate some of these classic sounds with a trip hop vibe and a little bit of glitch here and there…i would love to see SA do more of the IDM side of things rather than pure EDM and as an example i will use Board of Canada cuz they are amazing!
Too right - I’d love to see a breakdown of their techniques. Great request.
ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz
really wish i could get into stuff like this but it really does put me out and not because its boring or anything

Ha its all good man i just love music i can really listen to anything…This type of music seems to have more of a soul than any other music it sounds like they really put their heart and soul into their music and thats what i like about it and their melodic structures are prreety sik
Their Album - Music has the right to have Children - is a Classic.
The little 30sec clips that they have between some of the songs are good enough to be made into full tracks… and they didnt. Thats how creative they are…
Saw them once somewhere - I think… :hehe:

lucky
+1 All of their synths, chord progressions sound so uniquely bizarre/dissonant
Imo music producer/graphic designer Tycho has emulated their style really well

+1000000, i would seriously love to see some IDM. some of aphex twin’s more laid back stuff would be cool.

That’s a good quote dude. much respect for that.
For anyone who is interested, the guy below has done a great tutorial on recreating the phased chord sound in Board of Canada:

One of my favorite mini-albums as of late. Would love to see how this kind of atmospheric stuff is laid down.
Alot of stuff from the Nu-Gaze tutorial was very helpful with this kind of stuff, but I would like to see more.
For example, how to create good atmospheric sounds that are in the background. Kinda like the deep house tutorial with the bar sound in the background to give the space between drum hits some interest. Maybe how to create some good drones that don’t have too much movement in them.
Cheers
