Hi all,br
br
Im looking for some good books to teach me basic music theory. I have watched most of the tutorials from this site regarding scales, chord construction, etc and would really like to continue further! Any suggestions?br

Music Theory for Computer Musicians by Michael Hewitt is really good. So are his other books.
Thanks and I’ll give it a look see! I was also looking for some references that give information on specific types of house genre’s. For instance in much of the tutorials here on making Trance, Dutch House, Swedish House, etc, the instructor lists reasons for why the drum pattern is a certain way, or progressions are a certain way. I would also like to learn much more about these types of things too. Any thoughts on where this information might be kept?br

Thanks again,br

they now do an iPad version that includes samples of the examples they’re talking about.
Looks good! Thanks for the heads up!
Was also gonna recommend Music Theory for Computer Musicians, it teaches you so much more then you need to know but that’s not to say that it’s useless.
thanks Distant! I bought it the other day and have been reading it as much as possible; it definitely has a ton of information! I can’t wait to see what else it has in store
