Boxing

I’m a huge boxing fan and although this fight should never have been made in the first place plus me not liking Harrison, I still think it’s right that Harrison should be paid for it - I won’t say ‘be paid for the “fight”’ because he didn’t!

It seems he will be too:

nope no fighter should be paid for not fighting and personally i think they should back to the old way… if you don’t make it past the forth or make a good account of yourself then all you get is a sparring partner fee and your bus fair home.

the main thing boxing is missing is a governing body like the UFC have we as boxing fans should call for it, this way fights like Mayweather vs Pac man would have to happen Klistchko vs Haye would have to happen and the best would really fight the best, ONE world champ per weight devision.

Is self-defence not fighting?  Harrison was totally outclassed before he even stepped into the ring (I lead to governing later:)).

I was looking at it from a contract point of view.  If you agree terms, regardless of the actual event those terms have to be implied.  Which is why I think he is entiled to be paid.

From a governing perspective; now that’s a whole new ball game and I agree with you 100%.  If a proper body was in place; a) this fight would never have happened and b) the contract would stipulate more honest terms.  Not that I believe any fighter would intentionally get into a ring and not want to fight.

It’s criminal this won’t happen.

haha how did i know that Jon would be straight in there with a topic about boxing

Haha, yeah I thought that too.  Sure we’ve had boxing discussions on another forum

totally agree that its criminal that its not going to happen.

sure he should get paid, if you sign a contract then you get paid simple but if he has in any way broken the contract then no and I’m sure the he would have broken a contract in some way or the other.

It really does suck to see what boxing has become. It’s very rare that you see any decent fights like the good ole days. I’ve stopped watching the Heavyweight division all together. I never know who the hell the champ is because each guy walks into the ring with like two or three belts. It’s a discrace and you would think that they would change this if they want boxing to have any chance of longevity.
