Changing Key of a loop

Hi,

For example, if I have a loop that is in G#, how would I change it so it was in A?

I guess it’s a matter of changing the semitones but I’m not sure how many etc. Also does it need to be in complex pro or beats mode or will any mode work?

Thanks

Up one semi tone… try all the different modes… some things work better in different modes.

Hi Phil, thanks for the reply.

How do sharp notes effect it. I’m guessing using:

C D E F G A B C

Anthing I need to change I just go up by how many semi tones it’s away. If it was A I would go up 2 to get to C.

If it was a sharp note does that make any difference? i.e Is F to G always 1 up even if the root note is F#?

Thanks

Alan

C to D is 2 semi tones. or a whole tone

C to C# is one semi tone

C to D# is 3 semi tones

Thanks, that’s great. That’s where I was going wrong. I was just adding 1 rather than 2 and not taking into account the sharps.

Thanks again

Alan
