WoNK!
Your stuff is hot, and it’s on the charts on beatport! WTF could we possibly teach you! I’m liking what your doing. Maybe you could shed a little light to us how you came up with your sound, and some of the things that your using in the studio. Also, since you seem to be doing really well in the game right now. Maybe you could also let us know a little bit about what it’s like to be selling tracks. Are you making money, you able to quit your job, is it getting you numerous gigs. Most importantly, is it a giant pain in the ***? All that fun stuff. I think that many of us here are writing great stuff, but maybe don’t have the balls to send it out or put it up with labels. How did you go about saying to yourself, “ok, im not messing with this one any more, I’m sending it off!” I feel like in the fidget arena, you can tweak and tweak and tweak the sounds and lfo’s and whatnot, but never reach an end goal if you don’t know where to stop. (hence ending up with some crazy sounding stuff that was never the intention in the first place that no longer works with the rest of the track!)
None the less, lovin the tunes, and WELCOME! as well!
Raymond
and to all you knuckleheads that were looking for sick female producers, this is one right ere!
Hey what a lovely reply thanx
What can you teach me? look at my other post haha how to make that tubbs bass … and a few others always plenty i can learn i love expanding my stuff
As for my sound well its a mixture of trial and error for me some tracks were done with my virus ti snow (im still learning it tho its a beast), Some with massive taking the simple wobble and trying to add in pitch bends and at the moment im linking reason into logic and using the malstrom to get some tasty basses that im using for the young nutz duo stuff
Making money … nah not much yet … im starting to get advances etc but as for sales they are all slipping alot at the moment i think its teh credit crunch but i love making music so i dont mind. I am un employed so i guess that helps haha.
Its definatly starting to get me more gigs i recently went to austria and im off to south africa in oct plus as Young nutz we are doing a fair few things
yes it can be a pain in the *** trying to get the sounds you want, labels persting you for things and right now im learning to mix down and master so thats just hell haha
What i usually do is send my tracks to a few mates who i trust to keep it tight and give me an honest answer. Once they are telling me its banging and they are loving it and not pointing out small things that could be made better i send it out to labels. I could tweak for ever but if you do that you end up bored with the track and it never gets a chance to be heard.
Glad you like the tunes its always nice to know people are taking an interest and enjoying what i have enjoyed making
Thanks for all that!
It’s nice to actually talk to people in the business and see what it’s really like once you get to the point of releasing material. You did mention getting asked for things from labels… You mean commitment wise, or just constantly hassling you for your next track? Also, I know that producers sometimes have to use different names to release stuff under different labels due to contracts. Have you come in to account with any of these type things yet? I noticed you have a couple of aliases. I guess this could just be project and fun oriented though! Well, I’m sure you’ve checked out the Fidget tuts by now, is there a certain aspect of the bass sound that Rico uses that your after? Or is it just that overall sound?(it is very ravey and nice isn’t it!?!) I’m diggin your particular sound personally, I don’t know that I would alter it too much, but hey, it’s yours, not mine :D!
Raymond
Have to say I agree with Raymond, ur stuff sounds great already, been a fan for a while, played the Breakdown tune u did with Calvertron to death recently! Right up my street and good to have u on board!
Hey yeh some times labels ask you for a remix but then they ask you to do it like someone elses style rather than ur own which grates it should be the producers own style. Or they ask you to make it exactly like one of your other tunes lol
My young Nutz alias is because thats myself and my friend so we thought we would have another name for the duo we started it 2 months ago its coming on pretty well so very pkeased
yeh i did all the fidget tuts … the sound im after is the rubbery feel and the way it seems to bounce im sure thats to do with cut off etc i know he uses a very old synth you cant get now but wont tell me the name (the cheeky git lol)
its just more of a ravey sound it seems alot fuller than my wobbles etc so im just trying to expand and get what i can
