Chillwave/Glo-Fi/Alt RB/Glitch-Hop

this sample based genre is a fairly new genre that is becoming more and more popular, while staying very low key and underground. The sampled vocals and loops and ambient/dreamy sounds make these songs very easy listening and pleasant to the ear. they give off some great vibes. the vocals seem to play the background and harmonize with the song itself and usually you’re not even sure what the vocals say, they become an instrument so to speak. i have been asking around and mentioning this genre for the past couple months now, and i’ve been so curious to know how it is made, how the sounds are created, how the atmospheric ambience comes about. Maybe we can get a tut. on this from Phil Chris! br
br
some wiki stuff on the genre…br
"Chillwave sometimes also referred to as glo-fi, is a genre of music whose artists are often characterized by their heavy use of effects processing, synthesizers, looping, sampling, and heavily filtered vocals with simple melodic lines."br

Not an answer but STWO [check soundcloud] is of the same vein. I’ve heard it called Chillstep too. Love the sound. So smooth.br
br
For the kick “eating” the rest of the sounds, I’ve sidechained with a kick. I think you can also use a heavy compression but don’t really do it that way.br
br
I’d love a tut on this one too. Bump

would love a tut on this aswell!! its really big here in australia!

yes! STWO is a perfect example of this. i don’t think this genre has any official name, i have heard it called a bunch of different things. hope we can get a video on it! thanks for the bump!
