Please let me know what you think, I am pleased with this one
not really my thing but i quite enjoyed it
Enjoyed that, it did to an extent sound like it was an intro that never ended but still a good track throughout!
Quality Tune and great vibe… the mix is way off tho.
Im guessing you dont have great set of speakers.
sounds like you are only using 300hz to 8Khz
The Stab Sound has way to much energy around the 1k area which is taking up a lot of the space in your mix.
The Kick and bass are lacking any really low end… and are quite muddy sounding… more 60-90 Hz less 300-500 more 2k to bring out the attacks.
Id go for a different kick sample too… something more modern.
the percs/hats are getting lots because of the stab being so dominant.
i feel like i want reach in to the computer screen and stretch the frequencies of your track out.
Defo think theres something there worth fixing
I’ll send you the parts for a mixing and mastering tutorial if you want Phil
I made it over a year ago and could never get the low end right. Will be slowing it down for a dub version when I get some time soon.
Thanks for listening everyone.
While going through the track I also noticed the low end was missing entirely. Have you checked the settings on the kick and bassline? Isn’t there a filter rolling off a considerable amount?
Maybe the stabs aren’t too loud when a decent full bodied kick is being used, but for now the stabs are too loud and overwhelming the hats. Only the open hat is coming through and the snare and clap have disappeared by the loudness and frequency dominance of the stab.
And those subtle vocal stabs that are audible at the start and end disappeared. Gain on that might be turned up a bit and may be brought back in that break around 3:15.
But the song is good. Has some oldskool feel to it. Bit of Steve Silk Hurley
Mixed this again for playing out, lots of low end now Thanks for the constructive feedback everyone.
