Controller Help Needed

Hey guys,

I’m getting ready to start playing out and need to buy a controller as I have nothing. Also I decided on a controller as my weapon of choice, so please do not recomend anything but.

The problem lies financially.
I would love to pick up the S4 but cannot afford it for awhile, but I can spring for the S2.

I am also just starting out DJing so I don’t know if I’d use the 4 decks until I get a handle on 2 decks.

So is the S2 good enough or should I wait?

Thanks

Wow!

Does no one have any input on this?

This site has really gone down hill.

Where's the love Jimmy???

Check this out. May help. Not used them myself but am also looking.

you could go for the s2 but the Hercules model i forget which one but it is a solid controller which is much cheaper(you can find a model for around 300 on Guitarcenter.com). But, personally I swear by products from NI.

Since your starting out usually a cheaper model will have everything you need.

Also would you consider a time coded system like Traktor Scratch Duo/Pro 2 or Serato Scratch Live? They use a laptop plus decks which gives a much similar feel to a dj controller.

Happy Hunting!

My advice would be to buy something cheap/secondhand from eBay have a play with it and see how you get on. Then you can sell it on again for a similar value and upgrade if you want to become the next guetta :w00t:

HAHA,

Thanks guys. I was starting to feel left out.
I mean, I know its been awhile since I’ve been on here, but Damn! LOL

@ Mr. Mallam
Thanks for the video.
It actually made me think not to get the S2 now.
What I want to get into eventually is controllerism more so than DJing.
SInce I’m in engineering the concept of completely moding a system out and getting into crazy mappings and stuff really caught my attention.

However, due to the fact that I only work part time and no one seems willing to just hand me money I am limited to getting the S2. I have decided on going with it and if I feel that I out grow it I’ll worry about it at that point.

@ Walshyyy, I appreciate your feedback as well, but if I went with another product other than the tracktor ones, then  I would still have to buy the software (because I am dead set on getting tracktor pro 2) so this would put me back up at the price of the tracktor controllers.

@ Mussi: Thanks for your input too bro. I looked on ebay, but the prices were about the same as they are in the store, but the big difference for me is that through the store I can make 3 payments, which really helps me out in my current financial situation.

Well, I’m ordering the S2 now. I’ll let you guys know how I make out with it.

Thanks again for your help
