lets say i have a effect setting for chanel a and i want the chanel b,c or so ever to use the same effect setting how do i copy them across ? i am talking about ableton live 8,thks so much for the help 
Select all the instruments / fx in the chain… make them all go yellow-ish.
Right click… theres an option for save as rack or something similar to that.
On the top right of the effect or instrument there is a save preset button which will allow you to save it to use on other projects, or if you just want to copy the effect or instrument to another channel you can hold CTRL (or command on a mac)Â and drag to the other channel, this will copy it rather than move it.
I do this all the time. This is cake.
Click the effect/compressor/instrument… Make sure its yellow. right click. copy.
Go to the new channel where FX/instruments go. Right click. Paste.
Done.
