Id like to get some advice on this.
For the last few days my computer as had very bad cpu spikes, usually staying at 100% even if im not using any apps. Ive tried re-booting, using task manager to stop unknown programs, and i even spent 70 bucks to get a registry fixer and another program to help out. Nothing helps and on ableton i cant even run basic tasks without spiking.
im pretty pissed. im done with f**king pc’s. go suck a fat one bill gates. when i get the funds im getting a mac. it makes you think how reliant you are on your computer. oh and to top it off, i have a gig tonight and i use serato.
any advice would be great
if its with live don’t worry its not just you. updated to 8.1.5 and my CPU regularly hitting 125% lol
By the way thats on Mac for me… so don’t kick your PC just yet (although it does happen more often on PC)
my computer does this all the time now , even if im on the internet or no applications are running
start - run - msconfig.exe.
Go to the startup tab and untick anything you think you don’t need… there’ll be loads of crap on any normal pc - things like quick time, adobe etc etc.
Untick as much as you can live without, reboot.
It’s a good little system tweak to do and often gets rid of troublesome programs.
What Bouffont said
I have been using NoScript, Adblock with firefox and Avast for two years have been spyware/virus free
thanks guys, ill try the msconfig. hopefully that will work.
sounds like it could be a virus maybe.
try all the above and a virus check and spyware check. also google speed up windows 7 or what ever it is you have.
And defrag your hard drive, and clean up your disk
I know it’s all simple stuff and you’ve probably tried the above but it all works for me running vista64 and I don’t have any problems at all.
I also run a program call “pc auto repair” which seem pretty good.
Failing all this you may need an upgrade
And some registry edits nut you will have to google for that
On a side note I miss the old defrag program where you got a graphic the vista and win7 is just not the same
you install anything new recently?check processes?imo a registry cleaning isnt going to help you.
just programs to fix my computer
sound likes some kind of spyware or such like mate eating up your resources, try this, its free, http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and very good at its job. Also try cleaning out your system, temp files etc. How much free hard drive space do you have? I’m thinkin of your virtual memory here, could be an issue too. Maybe even dedicate some more if you know how. Might help…
