Cubase 5

Just wondering why you are an ableton user over cubase having used both?

I’ve only ever used Reason and Ableton 8 but am keen to try another just to see if its any better for me. I noticed the first Cubase 5 tut which I’ve just open is by you so what made you change?

i did the cubase 5 tut - can’t vouch for phil on why he changed DAW, but i changed to Ableton after seeing how quick it was to get ideas down

i find it harder to arrange in ableton though.

nice !! are we having some Cubase tutorials soon? :P.

No Sampler in Cubase… humm!

I started with Cubase originally. It was one of the reasons I signed up for SA.

I did all the Cubase tutorials before I eventually moved over to Ableton.

I find with cubase that certain things are easier to do. Such as arrangement like bryan said.

The window is much larger compared to ableton where everything seems cramped in arrangement view.

Also GrooveAgent is pretty sweet. Same with Halion. Lots of cool stuff can be had there.

What I didnt like were the keyboard shortcuts. They didnt seem natural to me.

Also doing automation for me seemed like a MUCH more pain in the a$$ then in ableton.

In cubase, you have multiple windows open for everything all the time. Using 1 monitor is a bitch.

Last but not least… Doing Audio warping in Ableton is sooooo much better then cubase.

I still never got it quite right in cubase.

Cubase Mixer > Ableton Mixer Channels. The cubase mixer is SICK. I wish it was in ableton.

A lot of big DJs use cubase Wayne… John O’Callahan comes to mind. Also Infected Mushroom, Lazy Rich, NERO, Justice and more…

the plugins it has built in seem pretty good, so far I like it but I’ve yet to try and automate anything or bounce something down!
