Hi All.
I recently got cytomic the glue as an addition into the studio.
I am digging the sounds that it can get out of it… but I am having some trouble and I am hoping that maby some people on here that use cytomic with ableton could help me.
I tried using google but I could not find it for the life of me.
I want to use the glue as a sidechain compressor to my kick trigger track.
The instructions for cytomic glue say to refer to your DAW about routing audio…
When I use the glue as a compressor it works fine, but not when I turn on sidechain effect.
I know this probably has to be a misstep on my end because I havnt routed audio properly.
I dont see anything in the glue similar to ableton’s compressor that asks for the input.
How can should I route audio in ableton so that the glue properly receives signal and works as a sidechain compressor.
It is probably a stupid question but I can’t figure it out for the life of me.
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance…
Turn on I/O settings and go to your kick track, in audio to select the track you have side chain comp on, in a menu below select inputs for the glue
You’ll need to do that for each of your side chains, pain in a neck!
Now there are no stupid questions apparently…only stupid answers

awesome. it is a pain but i imagine that its worth it.
thanks for the help sean!
Yeah, thats the real way to route sidechains too. Its how you have to do it in Logic. Not really a pain, but maintains the legit routing where Live does it for you already.
Can someone post a pic example?
Cz i bit confused how it works in ableton:/
I had a support chat with Andrew Simper the creator of ‘The Glue’ last year and he sent me that attached pic which shows the routing quite nicely. His support is great by the way.
You welcome mate, but thinking about it now the glue has fixed release settings so chances are that you won’t suit your material, depending on effect you after
I personally use ableton comp to do all my side chains, as with external you have to keep coping the key track all the time, plus the comp is more flexible
I agree. The Ableton compressor is a great compressor and is perfectly suited to achieve the results you’re after.
thanks for posting the pic.
No worries.
I have to agree with the others - you can’t beat the simplicity of Live’s built-in compressor with sidechaining.
Honestly I have to agree for the sidechain sounds. the regular ableton compressor is great.
The big reason I got the glue was because a good friend of mine swears by it. Although he uses logic so I guess its a bit different for him. I was asking him more about mastering compressors and he mentioned the glue to me. And it does get a good sidechain sound…
I still imagine that I will be using the regular ableton compressor more often then not.
Its so simple & nice sounding it can’t be ignored.
The Glue is a solid SSL Compressor emulation. GREAT for busses and to (no pun intended) Glue, things together.

+1 and at this price you can’t go wrong
Never really used The Glue for sidechaining or as a compressor on a single track. I mostly use it on buses and master. The Glue is the only third party plug-in compressor that I own aside from the stock UAD Mackie ones. Nowadays, I mostly use Logic’s own compressor or the built in one on Ableton if i’m using Live.
