Delay option in Ableton

I have noticed in a number of the tutorials were you pull such thing as snare and claps of the grid lines in order for it to sound slightly before the kick.

Could you get the same efect by leaving the snare snapped to the grid and changing the delay setting on the channel.

What exactly do you use the delay settings for - there on the session view just below the arm button as long as you have the correct view selected.

Hope someone can advise.

 there is no difference it has the same result but nudging from grid seems to be a bit  more precise i use it ( track delay ) on bass and lead sounds that may have the same midi part makes coming up with a lead a bit easier imo .:slight_smile:
