Used to watch Much Music / New Music @ Stoopid O’Clock on ITV back in the day.

That takes me back.

WTF is that Guy doing playing a Guitar over decks? :w00t:

Wrongness.

& LOL at May talking about them building roads etc… Saying the might need to build their own cars. Should Detroit have been famous for making Colostomy Bags, would he have made a different analagy?

Shocked at Trance cnuts ripping off Knights of the Jaguar. Madness, huh? :)

Very interesting video.

Techno did start in Detroit, but when I think of Techno I think of European Techno.  Most of my old techno records are European.

The same with US house music. I think Europe took these two sounds to another level in the 90’s.

This is what I was on about… Detroit is the home of Techno. You europeans just diluted it and made it work for white people.

I think I gave said this before but most if not all popular music is Black orientated

Dam I’m late for work now!

It’s good America didn’t know what to do with techno because they would of ruined it :hehe:

Detroit techno was far more influenced from soul where European Techno was more influenced by the Industrial sound - both have there place

What about Country & Western  - and Classical Music?

Indeed. Not all music is black oriented (or african oriented).

Think you could take it more apart. Drums, rhythmic and percussion wise it’s more or less african oriented. Whereas the melodic part is probably more classical oriented.

But all in all, in every country on every continent music was made. It’s all one melting pot nowadays.

Btw. had to look twice to notice Ritchie Hawtin

Interesting documentary!

What I do find interesting is that lots of Detroit (or Chicago) artist are black. And I’m not sure how it looks like in the USofA, but in Europe most listeners of house music are white. What’s with that?

Hey if the IMF could get your Government to tax it they would :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d put money on it, but the odds are sh!t

Nah man, the black people never started any electronic dance music scene, they just improved on it.

New Order, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode etc were the pioneers in this new sound.

And where did it all start really? Italo Disco.
