Dirty bass sound

Hi ,



I was wondering to get this dirty bassline : DJ T. feat James Teej - Sense (Tale Of Us Remix) - YouTube ( zedd- shave it)



The bass sound i’m trying to recreate comes at 1min 28 sec. Other bass sounds i like are the sound of dyro-draftastic. I love the dirty baslines ;-).

I really don’t get how you get the LFO to modulate the cutoff

i had the hardest time looking all online to try an figure this bass line out and the best thing to do is just mess around yourself…here is what i came up with.


  • sylenth1 with saw wave detuned all the way pitched -2 with 1 voice
  • redaptor tube distortion and mess with the presets to get the sound you want
  • a bit crusher…any will do
  • camel crusher using the tube warmth preset
  • boots the mids using any EQ
  • add another EQ is boost the hi’s just a bit
  • waves ssleq turn up the hmf and hf a bit
  • spl transient designer boost the sustain up a bit as well as the output gain
  • lydkraft tube-tech compressor and boost up the gain a bit

    BOOM! you now has some fat bass! oh yeah i forgot, turn the glide on the sylenth1

Well for me it sounds like one of those 90ies highly-resonant Bassline sounds (e.g. Dr. Alban, Ace Of Base, Technotronic!).



From another well know forum i´ve heard that some producers used a Roland TB-303 for this type of bass sound.



For instance someone wrote:

  • Waveform: One osc/ sawtooth
  • Filter: Lowpass Filter set to 12db? or 18db?/ high res!!!



    Envelope: On the Cutoff and Amplitude :
  • Attack: 0
  • Decay: pretty short
  • Sustain: No sustain
  • Release: expermiment



    Other Source saying:
  • Roland Juno-106.




  • I can hear also a real bass guitar sound layered with the main synths bass sound.

    So layering would not be a bad idea.



    Maby you can try one of these synths:
  • TB 303 (or emulsion)
  • Roland Juno-106
  • Sylenth 1 (e.g. Rob Lee soundset!)


  • “DX7/100/TX’s”
  • “Solid Bass or Lately Bass preset”

for this type of sound its all about the distortion and effects used
