Hey all,
So I’m going out in a few weeks to play my first real club gig, and I’m planning on using my own equipment, since I can’t get my hands on Pioneer 1000s. For all you guys with experience here, what should you bring? Don’t say “a bottle of water” or something. I mean legitimately, what hardware do I have to bring? Very nervous here!
Cheers!
Your headphones, your mind, your balls, your dug and a ladder to climb out of the hole that you’ve just made.
Apart from your equipment good duct tape - cables - an extension lead with a good 4 way surge extension - and some balls
What are these “balls” you’re talking about? Where can I buy them?
If its a club why would you need to bring anything but your headphones and music?
Also a pioneer cdj is possibly the easiest thing ever…
Technically I could, but I literally have NO experience with CDJs and not a lot of money/time to practice. If this becomes more of a regular thing, sure, I’ll figure them out. But right now I have a lot of my own gear that I’m a little more proficient at.
with what are you dj-ing at home now then?

According to Roben you are a noob if you cant spin Vinyl or CD Djs hhehe . just saying !!
music, laptop, headphones, extra cables, a mini-flashlight (just incase its super dark)
so flaxo are you using traktor or ableton?
if i was doing a gig, i’d be using ableton and also bringing along the apc40.
I am a DJ noob, heh… But that’s not really what I work on… After all, I got booked based on my production and not my DJing, so…
Right now, I’m using Ableton, with a Launchpad controlling stutter edit, a Numark Omni Control doing basic levels/mixing/killswitch/ and a LPD8 for filter effects, beat repeats, so on.

hahaha. you and me both dude. i probably learned how to do it correctly like 4 months ago.
your setup sounds fine to me man. i’d keep an extra USB cable in the bag just in-case 1 fails or something.
last but not least… keep a CD with a couple mp3 tracks on it… just in case your laptop crashes or something. that way you can throw the CD into the cdJ, while your laptop reboots. (it probably wont… but ya don’t wanna feel dumb standing there if it does…)
If ur using ableton, just bring ur pointer finger to press play b4 the one count. Other than that, u don’t need much…Word of advice: learn cdj’s asap and stop using a computer to dj as soon as u can:cool:
