DJ help

Hello guys how u doing am i bought CDJ 1000mk3 and DJM700 i have laptop i just wondering what i can use to record sets with this players thnx !

Hi,

You will probably need a USB audio interface unless your laptop has a line in, they usually only have mic in and that won’t do. You get what you pay for with Audio interfaces, there are some for £30 ish but I have no idea how good these are. There are lots of good options around £100 - £150.

For software you can use Audacity which is free and a lot of people love (I have never really got on with it)

or Sony Soundforge, which costs between £45 - £300ish, and I really like it.

Ok, to record you sets you connect your CDJs to your mixer as normal, then take the Record Out from the back of the mixer and connect it to  one of the line ins from your Audio 4. Then you need to tell windows which channel in to record from, each version of windows this is a little different but basically in Control panel select the sound control, then in that window find recording and select the line in you have chosen on you Audio 4. Start Soundforge, hit record, select monitor so you can see the meters moving. Play something, check the meters are moving, check they are no where near peaking - if they are turn your mixer down, get to work!

I can’t think of any way to make the mic work with this setup, a non-usb mic could just be plugged into your mixer.

thnx for the help man what about i’m on mac os
