DJ'ing or Production?

Which do you prefer?

red sauce, brown or gravy? (you bellwhif)

Personally I preffer production theses days, if I could spend all day everyday doing it I would

I’ve never DJ’ed so it’d have to be production for me.

The thought of DJ’ing live makes me very nervous. A big eff up and you’ve got a room full of pi55ed off people. :w00t:

Same here! Never DJ’d before … a live performance does give me the heebee jeebies!

Loving the production side of things alone in my man cave!

Gravy or Mayo

Used to love playing live in bands, so the natural progression was Djing but not done that for 15 years so now production - would love to play out live again

Nowadays tends to be more towards production, but I do love DJing still but only when it’s too a good crowd at a good venue. I’m really selective about DJing now, i won’t do a gig just for doing a gigs sake.

Production is a lot more rewarding I think, plus is a lot harder to do.

It is like having to choose between sex and food, I know I am going to want both three times a day

production…

production.

i gave up djing a couple of years back and sold all my cdj’s etc to fund my move into production and that still is my main goal but i’m sort of hitting a brick wall with it and for the last month or so i started downloading from beatport again for the first time in years and working on a dj/live set using ableton production is where its at for me but when i cant get anywhere with it i find loads of inspiration in just playing some tunes and mucking around on the fly so much so i’m thinking about chucking a demo out and maybe playing live again sometime…

never djd bfore either then again im stil real youg so i probably will soon, but like the other lads, id be vey nevous djing live becos one mistake and ur fcukd, it scares me :S but i tink its somethin u just have to do atleast once plus i also tink it wud help get ur name out there and get some inspiration for tracks that would work on the dance floor!

started buying tracks again after a few years absence, started doing a podcast/radio thing and loving it. just dont have the time to mix like i used to.

also moved over to traktor which i never thought i would do. :w00t:

but im loving production as well because i think im starting to get better at it

It helps a lot knowing how to DJ when you’re making music, I feel having a background in DJing really helped me loads, because i know what drives a crowd and I know what flows and works a bit better than the ‘average joe’ ie: clubber / listener.

Just a side thought…

its a natural progression i think but when i gave up to persue production i thought it would be easy after years of knowing what works on a dancefloor etc but its not lol its a very steep learning curve and a long process (or its working out that way for me lol)

im also terrified at the thought ov effin up in a live set.

but i am actually in the hope that my future productions get me gigs!!

Gotta be dj’ing for me.

I still get the same buzz from it when I started 8 years ago.

The only downfall is from spending so much time behind the dex it’s hard to enjoy myself in front of them like I used to.

On the production side even tho iv had a track released I still think I’m a crap producer when I can’t make a track that I can honestly say if I heard it on beatport I would definitely buy it.

But il keep plugging away at it anyway lol.

both !! Djs need to produce music. producers need to learn to Dj .

so far Djing helps me keep updated with the new music out there. also help me out to produce and experiment new sounds.

well i’m into producing myself , haven’t djed before . And for the guys that fear failure on stage , cue button saves us all. I did some podcasts i can pretty much say that on my first time that button helped me avoid massive disasters.

Still , my opinion, production is way more awesome !

Interesting…

For me it always was and will be DJing

Dance music production without some sort of live performance/interaction with the crowd is like having sex without a partner. Fun but not the same

Looking forward to your abuse
