compose in one DAW and mix / master in another? I’ve been thinking about trying to compose in ableton and mix in logic. Was curious to know if anyone has or currently done this before? How much of the mixing process is done between DAWs?
I know a few people who do that or use cubase/audition etc etc - I don’t to lazy
I do this.

But your a freak
sometimes i do it… sometimes i don’t… it depends on how the project is setup…
if & when I do it… i do all my automation for FX in ableton, rewire into cubase and use it’s mixer.
cubase mixer > ableton mixer…
BUT…
What i’ve learned is that the reason I didnt like to mix in ableton was because of volume automation that I was doing to audio/midi channels when I was writing a song.
We all know that as soon as u do automation to volume in arrangement view, that the faders won’t work any more for you (correctly) in session view…
The way around this is to do ALL of your volume automation with a Utility plugin and just automate the gain. Doing this gives you the same automation, but allows you to mix with the faders the whole time while you write the track in ableton.
problem solved!
I do that with the Utility plug now too UV. It got round a lot of headaches with adjusting levels once I’d made automation changes.
Curses! Foiled again!
