all the tutorials are great but the drums are always pretty fit for purpose
typically only a bit of eq / compression / reverb
can we have a detail tutorial on making your own drum sounds? maybe combining synths and samples etc.

Agreed!
There is the Tech Tips videos about layering kicks and snare.
also processing in detail.
now you can take a shortcut and steal the kick from some other track 
From what I remember that didn’t go into nearly enough depth
I layer at the moment and do it pretty all within battery and then each kick has it on it’s own channel which I apply further processing
How about covering it outside of a daw, or with a transient shaper etc.
