Drums in Logic?

I’ve been stuck rewiring ableton into logic for a while now because I LOVE the drum rack, but rewiring is a pain in the *** sometimes, and sort of a creative drag. I’m trying to consolidate my workflow.

What do you (logic users) like for your drums.

I’ve been using Ultrabeat a lot recently, like a big sample player.

If you launch a Multi out UB… and then click the “+” on the channel strip in the Mixer Tab… you can get all the outputs showing as channel strips.

You can then add whatever fx you want to them.

You route the drums out from UB itself just beside where the pans/mutes are in the main UB screen. Then I’ve been jamming away with that.

Really like the OSC’s in it and the LFO’s etc… What is it? Like, 24 channels… 3 OSC’s per channel, 2 LFO’s / 4 envelopes per channel.

I prefer to just drop samples in as waves. If i want to mess with them the exs is great and getting into the ultrabeat a bit for deep editing

my friends that use logic all just drop the samples in as wavs/audio for kicks/drums.

I always have the kick / SC kick as audio.

exs24 is the easiest thing to use for drums for me…

UB is wkd though in terms of individual envelopes etc…

Sure you can multi out with EXS - but they’re all tied in to the same overall shiznit.

Saying that… I do use EXS for Perc mainly

I WAV my kicks and then either use Battery or the ES Sampler in Logic, seems to work best for me, I used ultrabeat in the past, I find it slows down my workflow alot especially having spent the time putting my favourite drums and Perc into different sample bays.
