The best way to approach a DJ is through their booking agent, usually on their FB or Webpage.
The Essential Items are a good venue, This doesn’t mean the biggest of the best but the most suited to both your the size you need and easy to travel too for your captive audience. The rest i’m sure the DJs will let you know what they need.
Dependant on many things but money is their to be made, but you need to be able to get people to pay for the night and cover the cost of the DJ’s, Venue, Bar Staff and security as well as other stuff. The only way to do this is to give them something they are willing to pay for, For instance i’m not ever gonna pay for some DJ i’ve never heard of.
The biggest mistakes for beginners is booking to big a venue or the wrong DJ’s, you need to find out who is popular in your area or who people in your area would really love to see/hear. another big mistake is not having structure to your night, i would never come back to your night if the first time i came you had some wet behind the ears DJ play 150 bpm while i’m ordering my first drink.
Why is it no-one these days wants to go to nights unless they have the same old big-name DJ’s playing?
Some of the best sets i’ve ever heard have been from DJ’s that i have never previously heard of!
