get novation nio 2/4
I got a Mobile Pre and it works really good !!
i’ll make a similar topic…im interested in buy a new sound card to my pc. Whats the best to record vocals? i have a condenser mic AKG Perception 120.
No one is helping the poor guy. So you want something for that cheap, huh? Well, tell us a little more about your setup. Do you have any external synths or outboard gear? Do you plan to use it to DJ with Ableton? Do you plan to produce? What are your goals and what do you want to do. Please give more information.
And I will tell you, that you will get some garbage for that amount of money. I mean, you can get a good used AI on eBay for that price, but not new. I have a Presonus Firestudio Mobile that I am selling, if you want to buy it. Just let me know. I used it for a couple days and bought it brand new. It didn’t serve the purpose that I wanted (I run alot of hardware synths and outboard processors), so I needed more outputs.

No one likes to do research on here, do they?
Apogee makes the best A/D converters on the market. Vocals will not sound better then on them.
howie you are really unhappy guy ain’t you?

I Agree with Howie but there is parts that i dont Agree with Purchasing an expensive Sound Card .with a M Audio sound card that Cost 150. bucks would be enough to make Music . if you have a hardware synths and record lots of Vocals and instrument then try to invest in a soundcard like Howie recommended.
try to see what you will need for your studio first . the M Audio USB that i bought is enough for what i want to do .

Lately, yes.
Getting divorced, so I just have a hard time putting up with shiz lately. I’ve been here for a long time. The forum is honestly clogged up with alot of the same questions that people could find the answers to if they used the search function.
I’m not saying that this is one of them!!!
However, research is the key. Alot of questions could be searched one time on google and would get pages of hits. It’s just laziness. In this case though, Labs asked a fair question, but we need more information. Telling us what his goals would definately help. I mean, I could recommend a garbage interface for 150 quid, but he would get a new one in 6 months because it allowed for absolutely no expansion.
So dont get me wrong, Im not putting anyone down. If you read my posts, I love to help others out. But as Roben will tell you, I have my moods and I dont like to put up with crap. I have gotten better though. I just like to help other kids out. I was helped out when I started, and I am returning the favor, and then some with the hope that when they get good, then they will return the favor. And the world goes round!!
Hope that wasn’t a d!ckhead answer…

Hey Labs…check this out.

Give that a read through. They are the professionals.
It really doesnt matter what microphone you have (well it does, but thats another story). If you have sh!t analog to digital (A/D) converters, your vocals (or any sound for that matter) will not sound as good. So it really depends dood. How much dough do you have to spend? That will make the difference. If you won the lottery, then you can surely afford some Apogee gear. Thats what I would get. They have the best converters period. But honestly man, anything can get the job done. AKG makes great mics. So you are good there. Get a nice preamp too. But mostly dude, you are gonna want a clean signal coming in with as little noise as possible. The more stuff and wires you have running, the more noise you have in your signal. Like I said though. I have a Presonus Firestudio Mobile that has amazing A/D converters. Is it Apogee? NO! But they are great! You need to look specifically at the preamps that are included in your sound card. Thats where you want a clean signal.
Hope this helps.
Maybe?
That is a bit of crap situation Howie, sorry to hear that!
But there is always option of not replaying to posts
And I’m sure your expertise would be put to better use helping those that need it, rather than bashing someone for asking ‘wrong question’
On the side of interfaces I believe that you couldn’t do much wrong with either of mentioned above sound cards.

Where did I “bash” anyone? I reread through my posts. I don’t see anywhere where I bashed them. The only thing that I can see is that I asked what his intentions are.
Can you tell me what you are referring to?

hey howie, its just that you are pretty straightforward person and your replies just might sound rude on the internet, just like how you reply to all the n00b questions here by saying search it on google etc. or Read the manual. It sounds a bit condescending at times. Some people just arent tech savy enough to look for keywords etc even though for many it is so simple and we might think it is just common sense.
i know you just want people to learn though and not spoon feed everything to them so that they actually get better but mos of the time people take offense to it. I know and many on here know though that you have good intentions since you’ve probably helped alot of us on here on multiple occasions.
My plans are to use it for recording dj mixes on ableton, and production on Ableton/Cubase.
The only hardware that I have is a a Korg PadKontrol/ Novation nocturn zero sl mkii and a small m-audio midi keyboard.
I am only starting out and trying to learn from you guy’s, I haven’t a clue about all this stuff.
Thanks.

Thank you for the extra input. So, now we know that you need multiple outputs. If you plan on using CDJ’s or turntables, you will need at least 3 sets of outputs on your audio interface. 2 channels on Ableton, and how ever many more for your other gear like CDJs, etc.
M Audio Profire 610. maybe a focusrite saffire pro, and there are others.
Profire 610 was working great for me. I exchanged it for the Profire2626 because I needed more inputs, but it’s for my studio. The 610 ran great for the couple of days I used it. Think I’m going to be purchasing another one for traveling/portability.
Don’t sweat 'em Howie…people call me “abrasive”.
