So in New York we have Pacha & Cielo. In Washington we have Glo & Ibiza.
Now I've been to london, but that was years ago... sO I have never been able to experience the 2 clubs in the title of this thread. Honestly, I just heard about them today so I am just kinda curious about the clubs.
Recently clubplanet.com named matter & fabric in the top 3 of the top 20 clubs in the world.
So I wanna know... what are they like? Which do your favorite Djs play at?
Or is it all bull**** hype?
Inquiring American Minds want to know!
…and theres me thinking we were going to have a debate on quantum physics theory
I’ve been in Fabric a twice. Once on Paddys day & met Craig Richards… who gave me a tour of the DJ box. Really made the whole trip as you could imagine.
I loved fabric. Thought the whole vibe was great. Staff were nice - DJ’s were nice… and Bartenders remembered your drink
Not what I expected of a money making machine such as it.
Soundsystem was fkn great of course.
Would avoid dancing on the raised platform at the back of Room 1 though. Seemed to be full “questionable types” :w00t:

dude this is physics class. get with the program.
to ICN… all of that seems pretty cool. So have you never been to Matter then?
Here’s a question…
Armin Van Buuren wants to play in London. what clubs books him?
James Zabiela or Carl Cox wants to play in London… what club books him?
I guess I am looking for the differences between the 2. and where the big DJs play…
Only been to fabric once a very long time ago - can’t say it was anything that great as a venue - as for Matter thats in the O2 Arena or as you may know it as the white elephant that was the Millienium Dome and not been there

Probably Fabric as Matter is registered to go into liquidation in June this year
I’ve not been to matter but I’ve been to fabric and think it is awesome. Proper dirty underground club.
They have one of the beat sound systems around, and they have these podiums that you can get on and “large it”
Top club! It been taken over by a consortium So I believe it’s safe
I’ve been to both. They are both owned by the same people. Matter closed down earlier this year, but I think they reopened for NYE. I am not sure what future it has.
The problem with Matter was location and transport. It isn’t the easiest place to get to, and the tube line running there wasn’t up and running on time. Also when you get there it is still a 25 minute walk around the Dome from the car park / tube stop to get to the entrance. Inside it was quite impressive, particualy the top floor which when I went was for VIP, I think it is mostly paid for (I hate this idea of paying for the best parts of clubs). It didn’t feel at all underground, in fact it felt a bit “coporate clubbing” for me.
Fabric is a brilliant club, I have seen some brilliant DJs there. I have been there hundreds of times and I still find the layout confusing, and I really like that about it. The main room sound , when the DJ knows what he is doing, is really good and the vibrating dancefloor is great.
Still I prefered The End to Fabric for big cubs, but the End is no more (I liked The Cross best, that that was smaller and long gone).
+1 for The End and The Cross - RIP
Oh also to answer your question, they aren’t so different from clubs in America, you’re not missing something big. Good clubs yes, but not any better than Cielo.
For me, Space in Ibiza is the best, and completely different from UK and US clubs.

Club UK in Wandsworth - now THAT was a club!
Mussi81 (10/01/2011)
… Proper dirty underground club.
Thats what I liked about it too Mussi.

Yeah… They’ve speakers under the floor, dont they?
Love when you leave the club… and you find yourself outside - its like, how the fck did I get here!!! Wheres this?!

Yah I didn’t think that it was gunna be like mind blowing. Clubs are Clubs. Once you have been to a couple of em you get used to it…
The best for me would have to be Space Miami or Pacha NYC. Space because its in Miami and Pacha because its in NYC. I’ve never been to Ibiza or any European big wig clubs.
I think I am most excited about going to some of the clubs in Vegas. They are supposed to be out of this world in Vegas. Surprisingly enough there was 0 clubs in Vegas that made the clubplanet top 20 clubs list.
I think some European clubs, especially in Ibiza, are very different. Like Space and DC10, I think they offer a very different club experience, partly because they are day time clubs, but also they are different.
I go to more clubs in Ibiza and Berlin than I do in London now, but I am getting on a bit.

Me too, it feels underground even though it is big.
Still can’t beat a club in a empty squatted warehouse in my opinion - ah those were the days

Have you ever been to Berlin? It is still like that there. We went for NYE a couple of years ago and the club we went to was a huge disused warehouse, but with a very professional sound system. Really brilliant. They love their techno over there as well.
Even some of the big clubs have that warehouse feel.

I agree with this, I hardly even go clubbing anymore in the UK unless I’m DJing or its an event or a DJ I really wanna see which is pretty much never in Edinburgh - mind u saying that I will be going to Ferry Corsent & Lange in March. But other then that I save myself for Ibiza once a year, need to get ur butt over there mate, its ace.
A friend of mine used to help organise parties / things like that in squats / warehouses in London. Used to be building bits & bobs for them and getting all the sh!t together.
Moved over to Ireland & became a Property Developer!
Great Guy. He used to live in Detroit & went to school in the School in Grosse Point Blank. Was in the Navy too. Mad Bastard.
