Hey guys,
was just wondering if any of you have any methods of figuring out other producers chord progressions or notes? I just think a lot could be learned if these were somehow available. I my self don’t come from a musical background and have taught myself the basics of chord structures ect. But I really struggle trying to copy other producers “sounds” if you know what I mean .
Seems to be you’ll find guitar tabs very easily on the internet, but try finding chords and notes of dance songs and I seem to have real trouble.
Any thoughts?
start pecking at notes and seeing how they sound. I would start out with three note chords… thats what a chord consists of… three notes.
i don’t currently have it with me as i loaned it to a friend but maybe someone could post up some of the popular chord progressions from the dance music manual for you.

there are loads of midi files about, check out this for example:http://www.nonstop2k.com/community/midi_index.php
they are amateur transcriptions, but mostly very good!

they can also be 4 notes
i love a good 2note power chord riff. or a 4 chord melody.
to howie’s point though… the major & minor triads (most popular chords) are all 3 notes
