buy em, go on, you know you want to.
And the best of luck with those sir
Thanks mate. Itās interesting comparing what I sent to them to what they released.
Anyway, pretty happy overall. Published artist now and just done a commercial job for the Kissaki DVD, so itās all coming together.
A little over a year ago I couldnāt tell one end of a DAW from another and had never produced a thing.
Just bought copies of my own tracks. Sounds sad but Iām happy.

well done mate
Thanks guys.
I had a good think on a long train ride last night and decided that most of what Iāve produced just isnāt good enough. And, no, itās not a non-too subtle plea for you to say āno Jon, itās fantasticā 'cos it really isnāt.
So, Iāve put most of my tracks in a free download set for people to enjoy if they really do like them. A couple in a set of unsigned stuff that really should be signed (I think).
Need to get better. Need to get groovier. Too much experimental off the wall, dull music.
I wouldnāt be so hard on your self mate - your productions always sound clean and powerfull - but as they say you are always ones worst critic
Cheers butā¦ not enough groove and too long to build to the meat of the track in most cases. Just long and frankly boring bits of dull perc. Need to groove from the get go and work up and down from there.
Iāve been listening to a lot of Toolroomās output and to some "best ofā compilations from Beatport and they groove. Especially the more minimal stuff. I mean they have to right? Thereās so little going on that they need a strong groove and strong call and response and itās something that mine have been missing a LOT.
Well, at least I know whatās missing now. Or I think I do.
Grats mate!!
Youāre being too hard on yourself, i think your tracks sound really good! To be honest they sound like someone with loads of years experience made them. Theyāre really hypnotic and progressive, i like!
To be honest, if you can see where youāre going wrong then thatās half the battle in my opinion. Iām the same, Iām amazed my tracks get signed. I find them a little stale, and the stuff Iām making doesnāt sound like the stuff I want to make! (Dunno if that makes sense)
Your stuff is good though, definite releasable quality, which only means your productions will improve as you go along. Keep making tracks, its the only way to learn imo. I often find I forget the stuff Iāve learnt on SA, but remember the stuff I have to learn in order to make certain thing in my productions. Which is why I often find myself re-watching SA tuts until the processes Iām trying to do really set in.
Also, I bought my first track from Beatport too. That was almost a year ago and Iāve never recieved anything from the label. Makes me wonder!
