Frequency analysis

hi

i’m making a track which features pretty much constant sub bass

my frequency analyser is saying there is lots of bass in the region of 8-40 hz despite the fact (for examples sake, not how im intending the track to sound) the eq has been high passed at 450 hz (the slope begins at 125 hz)

am i missing something very obvious?

Hey dude, how many db is playing at that 8-40hz area? There arent really any systems that can reproduce sound that low. The best systems in the world can hit 40hz but not much lower then that. I would just throw another EQ on the end of your chain with a sharp 4/6/8 pole high pass filter. Dont worry from there what your spectrum analyzer says. There might be very small remnants remaining, but nothing to hear.

ideally i dont want anything below 50 as i dont my setup is really good enough to replicate how it would sound elsewhere

its only when it hits e2, g#2 is fine and the rest of the notes are a bit higher up and also fine, shame the song is written in e :frowning:

might see what an octave higher has to say, bit of a cop out i know

Its all good dude. Im making a remix right now. I have a 909 kick that has a ton of low end in there. However my monitors cant replicate the sound. Im doing the mixdown now, and I have to use my headphones to hear everything.

turned out to be the waves analyser playing up, does anyone know of an accurate free / cheap one?

You on Ableton?

yep, the ableton one is decent but it does my head in a little bit, for me it’s not designed particularly well, having to put my mouse on the line to find out what frequency it is rather than it having clearly labelled out, but i for the time being aint got no choice

hey bro. You dont have to worry about the line. check it out.

on the EQ 8, you can just click and type in the number where you want it to cut off and attenuate the drop by using the Q section. Type in to get closer, or hold down the command (cntrl on PC) and drag to have finer control.

For the autofilter, its the same thing buddy.

Just type in where you want the cut to go.

by the way, are you on Mac or PC? Are you in the US or Europe?
