Gareth Emery Producing Dubstep?

K I am not sure whats going on here but when you go anywhere which sells this track (referring to Tokyo) it is referred to as Trance. Now I am not certain but isnt the drum beat in a dubstep format? The Snare seems to be where it should be and the kicks are where they should be, and doesnt Trance have to be in a Four on the Floor Beat?

It also has some signature “dubstep” sounds with the weird wobbly growls towards the beggining.

Anyways, its a fantastic track. Not a fan of Gareth Emery never found any of his work all too good (cause I dont usually like Trance really, no offence Trance Peepz) but this track is amazing.

It doesn’t sound like trance.  I would say electro house.

But I am sure there is probably some distinct new sub genre it falls under now.

It seems the dubstep sound has become the new progressive house 1/8th note chord sound… it just comes and goes in fads. But this isnt a dubstep track, you will find lotsa dj’s and producers using this sorta sound now cos its the hot thing atm.

Cool, thanks for the info guys

I know I need to leave “genres” behind, but I cant help it lol, I just get weirded out seeing tracks labeled in a certain way when it should be another :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I have given up on trying to categorize genres.  So many songs now have elements from different genres in them. It’s too confusing. :w00t:

It definately goes to show how the “game” is developing itself.

I think if you give me some old school tracks it would be so much easier to categorize them, but these new tracks just throw everything they can in there to get to sound real fresh and nice.

Never considered Gareth to be a trance producer. He is always somewhere in between trance, prog house and electro house… can we just called prog tralecto house?

I always thought his older tracks where very typical (kinda boring) trance :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the combined term though!

The best one ive heard was a mates combined Disco and Electro House: Dislectro House!
