Generic techno percussion?

hi guys

ive been trying to get this right for a while now, but can never get the desired effect im after.

the stuttered/rolling delay type effect on hats, rim shots and other percussive elements in tracks it can be used on.

here is a few examples of what i mean:

spacebird (dubfire remix) 6mins & 6:49mins

1000 lords (popof remix)

3:03 its more on the bass in this tune…

hope you can see the type of roll im after!

hey…I cant see the youtube vids because im at work, but go to my youtube page at www.youtube.com/howiegroove and I did a little video tutorial on glitching. See if that might help you accomplish what you are after and let us know.

Note sure if I understood the question but it sounds like it’s a line of 16th note triplets to make the roll?

The main pattern being like a line of 16th triplets with the second note of each triplet missed out to create a swing / shuffle rhythm - think then your roll is just filling in the gaps every now and then?

So a bar might look a bit like this, with the roll on the end (if x is a triplet 16th note and - is a rest):

x-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xxxx

Hope this helps anyway.

It’s an automated delay effect.

Experiment with both the simple delay and ping pong.

Try settings between 1-3.

Turn the feedback all the way up and the dry/wet all the way down.

When you want to initiate a roll, use automation to turn the dry/wet to increase the volume of the delay, and the the effect will become apparent due to the delay automatically changing the recurrent perc hits velocities.

thanks for the advice guys

ill have a play this afternoon and let you know how i get on.

cheers again guys
