Hi guys this may be a bit of an ask (again) but short of scrapping my G5 dual core mac and finding another £2000 these tuts are wasted on me (and others no doubt). Yes i’m talkin sylenth again…
Could us none sylenth users please at least get sound files we can load into a sampler maybe at lets say C1, C2, C3 and C4 in the files and resources section.
I have tried to make the sounds u recreate in logics ES2 but it doesn’t have 4 oscillators, u can’t choose the number of voices per oscillators and u can’t choose the amp envelope separately for the first 2 oscillators and then differently for the others… suppose the only other choice is to build the sounds with two es2’s on separate tracks but I’m sure this is not practical!
Maybe someone can suggest another synth available as an alternative/ as at the moment what ur basically telling me is unless u have sylenth u can’t make this sound…
cheers
you don’t need a four Osc synth to replicate a sound created with four oscillators.
you could use Two twins Oscillator synth or Four Mono Synth
ok jon cheers for quick response but i’m not sure what u mean?
i’ll try and make a tutorial later on video, i’ll make a sound using 4 Oscillators and then i’ll replicate the sound using four separate synths mixed together via the Channel Mixer
cheers jon, trouble with following the tech tips that have just recently been uploaded is trying to find the same function on another synth, like in the hey champ ‘cold dust’ keys tutorial Bryan uses the keytrack (knob) on the sylenth, now i hear what its doing but how do i do this on the es2. See the problem, its ok saying heres how we do it on sylenth and you can do this with any synth but you really got to know the synth your gonna try to recreate it on inside out !!
before producers had synthesizers with Multiple Oscillators and built in mixers, The only way to obtain certain sounds would be to record two or more instances of the same synths using different waveforms and mixing the waveforms on using a mixing desk.
for instance on Sylenth (as well as other synths) we have the option to have a Tri-Saw with out having to do any processing. if we only had a synth with a single Oscillator that had options for SINE, SAW, SQUARE, TRIANGLE we could record the pattern we wanted with a SAW wave on one channel then use a second channel to record the same pattern using a TRIANGLE wave, then use the mixer in our DAW to mix both together to make a TRI-SAW. we could then bus those two channels together to make one single processing channel that we could add compression, eq and effects.
you can repeat this process to create any sound that you wanted to create with a single Oscillator synth
hope that makes sense
yes jon it does…!
cheers

yes you do need to know your synth, this is why i recommend that people using only one or two synths until they are really happy with how their synths work, too many synths will just simply confuse you.
i wish i could help you with ES2 but i currently don’t have logic installed, i lent logic studio to howie to do his Uni course so unitl hes finished then theres not really much i can do about that.
no problem jon cheers again
One quick question jon, when bryan uses for example 2 saw waves he alters the phase so as they play out of sync with each other. if i had two synths both playing a saw wave but they were on separate tracks what would i need to do to move them out of phase with each other?
Is there any simple solution that applies to all DAWS?
if i was using Ableton i would use the Plug-in or Channel Delay function by clicking the little D sign on the right had side of abletons screen.
you can do the same thing in logic i just can’t remember the function off the top of my head

But isn’t the point of a multi oscillator synth that the setting and effects of one osc effect the other and so on and so on? It’s not just 4 oscillators all independent is it, or am I misunderstanding how something like sylenth works?
