Getting signed?!?!

Hey guys,

So I know this has already been a post, and if you’re feeling extra lazy, please just post the link. ;).

So I was wondering how you guys get your stuff onto beatport and onto labels, etc. Should you send something? Most of the time, the response to that seems to be pretty negative. How do you do it?

You pick a label, check their contact details and send em a link to your demo.

Yeah pretty much nail on the head here. The thing you need to realise is every label is different with how they prefer to receive demos (if at all… seriously, some labels don’t accept demos lol)

Sometimes it’s a FTP upload, a soundcloud upload, or sometimes simply they’re happy for a sendspace download or even a link to your soundcloud page.

Also you can’t just send tracks to every label which way but up, you have to make sure they have a similar sound to your track.

If in doubt about anything, just a simple email to them asking how they prefer to receive demos is enough, you’ll normally get a response if you ask politely.

Otherwise if you’re not getting any luck anywhere, then maybe the track isn’t right for those labels, it could be that your track isn’t ready yet… however this isn’t always the case, so if you have a lot of faith in your track you could even try pushing your tracks out on your own label.

the first thing you need to do is make relevant music. once you have accomplished that, start networking.

All ive done so far is make the music i enjoy and then thought which label would this work on and out of those which would i really like to get my tunes on.

Then i sent the tracks to the relevant labels and managed to get signed to Cr2 and PMI … for first releases thats pretty big and i consider myself very luck. But I made sure i made what i enjoyed (The Lempo and Japwow Project agreed when we started that we would make what we love within the House genre)
