!Hackintosh!

Hey few guys on here taling about hacks heres my experince so far.

have 2 PC lying with their cases onen in my studio after i tried hackintosh them.

got one almost working: have the OSX n all working fine but cant get the graphics card to fucntion properly or get the sound to work like an apple internal sound would.

i.e im getting sound out but its not showing up as apple built in sound so i cant use screenflow etc.

Im think of giving up and just getting the 27" i5 imac £55 per month for 3 years is doable.

FAO: Jon… you mentioned your br builds them… have you tried them with ableton etc.? does he have a compent list that works well?

would still be interested in having a pop at one if i knew thew could work well.

What’s the sound card and graphics card mate?

if youd like i can post a few complete builds that work 100 percent stable using legit paid for osx.what processor did you have in mind?id suggest something with an lga 1366 socket type that way youre using a x58 chipset mobo and covered when you feel the need to upgrade.

Yes please mate - I’ve been playing with this too - I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to get my rig going with OSX so it’d be nice to know how to build one without waasting a load of money.

hey phil i can have a word with my brother i should be seeing him sometime this week, from what i’ve used of them (he loaned me one for a few weeks) they work perfectly fine but it was nothing to write home about when it came to logic and live. even though the home build was fully functioning and almost twice the power of my mac min its cpu use was around 10-15% higher on the same projects as my mini, although that was built from parts he had grabbed for cheap from ebay.

I’m sure once you have one fully working it will out perform a mac (my brother told me this and imo he knows his ****) but as far as i am aware you need specific parts for them to work really well but my opinion is that i still wouldn’t have one over a mac only if money was an issue.

thats what he needs bobby

I have standard onbaord Audio AC97 i think. Audio works but isint showing up as Built in audio which i need for screenflow

I have also tried M-Audio 2496 which worked but not as built in.

I have a few Graphics cards ive tried. 9500GT, 9800GT 512Mb and ATI2600 (no working drivers)

I can get them all working and can adjust resolution but cant get Quartz Extreeme or Open GL working on them. which again i need for screenflow.

I have a ASROCK Conroe 1333 MB and a dual core 2.6

or a GIGAbit GA-EP45-DS3R with a 3.2 core 2 duo

You just don’t have the right drivers by the sounds of it.

Go here for your graphics card,

HCL 10.6.3 - OSx86

I think you can just use NVenabler with your 9800GT.

As for the soundcard,

“Figure out what the sound device is called. Usually, even if it is integrated, there is a name for it (mine is Realtek 1111B or something). Take that, and use this search engine -Loading... - to find drivers.”

good luck.

Just a thought…

Phil with your expertise and talent for teaching us how to make noise, wouldn’t it make more sense to buy a mac and focus on getting 6 more subscribers by making awesome videos ?
