Help making "gas" or "white noise" sound

Hey Guys. There is this sound I’ve been trying to get in my own music but I can figure out how it is done. I 've heard it in a lot of songs, the best example I can think of is Deadmau5’s “Alone With You”. Around the 2:20 mark this sound comes in that sounds like escaping gas or white noise. I know he is using an auto-filter and a compressor side-chained to the kick drum. But i don’t what plug-in is ideal for making this sound. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey you’re right about the side chain etc the best way to make the synth (In Ableton Live) is load up an Operator and change its wave form to “Noise White” and play around with the pitch etc or you can use Massive and Use the noise oscilator down the bottom left and pick from any of the noises “Bright Noise” i find works the nicest.

P.S in massive don’t forget to turn the other 3 oscillators off and turn the noise amp up but you can also use another oscillator if you want and make its pitch gradually rise to create a riser there will be a tutorial on youtube for them if you get stuck.

Don’t forget to filter that ****. :stuck_out_tongue:

Have the white or pink noise going and automate a filter to get certain effects. Either way, you don’t want all those frequencies from the white noise coming through on your mix unless you’re trying to rock a certain effect.
