Ableton gives you all the tools you need to produce music without an external keyboard but I think if you really want to capture your creativity and make the recording process much more effective and efficient, then it’s important to have one.nbsp; Most keyboards are also touch sensitive so that you can take advantage of recording velocity with each key press that can then be linked to volume, pan, pitch etcnbsp;within abletonnbsp; /PP49 keys would definitely suffice. That would cover pretty much any chord progression and don’t forget you have the option to play with transpose and octaves within the standalone synth that you are using./PPI would love a controller such as the apc and I think this would work perfect in connection with the keyboard.nbsp;nbsp; Linking the apc to the sounds andnbsp;clips in session view will really help you control your workflow and shape your track. Of course this can be done without a controller but using one gives you a live,fun element to recording your ideas from session view to arrangement view./PPI’m no expert when it comes to producing trance, i’m still learning every day but one thing I have learnt already (and this is a bit of a cliche), but less is definetly more! Having a few sounds which compliment each other and keep the listener interested and of course are mixed/processed correctly have such a bigger sound compared with a project that has endless amounts of tracks.nbsp; Of course, it’s not easy, but this is one tip I try to stick to/PPRyan
