Help some advice please

hi, hope u guys can help!

I recently got back into djing, and was doing a friends party, had everything set up perfect and my laptop started playing up constantly crashing audio drop outs, you name it it happend untill i eventully gave up!

I dont want that to happen again so hav decided to get a macbook pro!

my problem is i dont know which one to get ?

The i7 2.2ghz or the 2.4ghz? I want to run The Traktor s4 with timecode vinyl, native instuments maschine, ableton, logic, and just one synth probably Ana!

Will the 2.2ghz be powerfull enough or am i better to go with the 2.4ghz ?

also most macbooks come with 5400rpm hard drives is this sufficiant? I would be running all my music and samples from an external hardrive,

Im sorry if this question keeps getting asked but i really dont want to make a mistake by getting the wrong one, i want to feel confident when going out to play live things arent going haywire on me

Thanks Rory

any of the current crop of mac books will handle DJing with ease… have you got a decent soundcard?

Hi phil, thanks for getting back mate, yeah I use the sound card on the s4 when dj’ing and the focusrite scarlet 816 for producing! Was going to go the cheaper option with 2.2 ghz i7 but was just worried it wouldn’t handle as good as the 2.4 in a live situation! Also theres a lot of conflicting advice on the 5400rpm harddrives some say you don’t notice a difference others say no less than a 7200rpm will do!? For someone no clued up oan computers it’s a little confusing!

For seak time 7200rpm is better… but for larger files like audio files it doesnt matter so much… until… you start maxing the drive with tons of audio tracks.

but we are talking 30-40+ simultaneous audio files playing before you would notice any difference.

Apps will load faster with 7200… and even faster with SSD.

So… if you are just playing 2-4 simultaneous tracks (DJing) 5400 would be fine.

If you are doing multitrack recording or Production with tons of loops… go 7200.

Thanks phil, helped a lot mate!
