Help with Sylenth

Hi asll, Just bought a copy of ‘the secrets of house music’ im trying to replicate some of the info in the book to Sylenth. In the book it mentions tuning the oscilators by a number of semi tones - how do you do this in sylenth?

Thanks in advance.

this would be done with the “note” button you also have octave and “fine”

Hi Jon,

Thanks for replying - im okay with the octive bit but confused about the note. The note only goes up to 7 which i presume is note c to c. So still not sure how i detune the oscillator by a number of semi tones. Could you explain further?

Thanks in advance

which page are you talking about in the dance music manual ?

Jon,

Page 81 its the walkthrough for the d.ramirez potamento slide. It says tune one of the oscillator 4 semitones up.

I think ive slightly figured it out in that you use the fine tune knob - any further help appreciated mate.

yeah the d.ramirez slide is done by just using note and putting at plus 4, thats so that you’ll get a one finger chord

Thanks Jon i knew when it came to sound design in Sylenth you were the man to help - what do you think to the ‘Secrets of house music’ book?

Be interested in the answer too as its quite pricey for a book

i think if your are a total novice this book is a must and even for those guys that know what they are doing could still pick up some great tips from it.

this and the dance music manual are two books i would recommend any producer have  these both help you know the reasons behind what you are doing.

Agree Jon, thought the dance music manual was a better read. Even so i love reading and learning about production so i’m enjoying it.

Good thread fellas thanks for the recomendations

I am currently reading the dance music manual…its great but to be honest I am finding it a bit hard going…feeling a bit dense atm.

Jon when does the penny drop mate:D gimme hope

I dont think the penny does ever drop - you just keep plugging away. Ive been learning music production for years and theres always more to learn. It not as though you can go Bang! and evrything drops into place - its a slow learning curve but your in the right place to learn with like minded people.

the penny doesn’t drop as such and i’m far from being a pro but the more you learn and understand the easier other things become to learn.
