Fatboy slim will almost have definitley sampled that.
You can get very basic string sounds from Sylenth. There are a bunch of orchestral packs for Kontakt and other samplers, of which you need to layer and build up the instruments.
I think the big names almost always will hire an orchestra / string section. (ie hybrid)
No…they dont hire string orchestras do make string sounds. I cant view the video, but that is just plain nuts.
You have a couple options. EastWest makes some amazing multisampled romplers. They actually have a Symphonic one, but they do a ton of other stuff. I have Ministry of Rock (some of the top electric and bass guitars as well as drum kits, multisampled with different riffs playing), Goliath (tons of different multisampled instruments, but not as in depth), and Gypsy (gypsy instruments like an accordian, trumpet, mandolin, etc.). They are pretty CPU heavy, but like I said, they are amazing. They have won multiple awards for their software.
Other then that, there are specific synths that specialize in making string sounds. Many polyphonic synths can do it well. My Prophet can do it well. However, the best VST synth IMO for making strings and pads would be DCAM’s Amber. There are three synths in the set, but Amber is specifically modeled after the best synths that ever did pads and string sounds.
yeh getting a full orcastra is abit ambitious… thanks though… i think this should be a tech tip?
Look it up - Hybrid travelled to Russia to record with the Philharmonic for one of their albums.
Also the freemasons use live strings in their tunes. So do The Shapeshifters. I’m not saying everyone does but I bet you’d see quite a few big names using live instruments in their tracks.
Yeah, but EastWest uses multisampled string orchestras…
You also are forgetting that these are HUGE names! We dont have those kind of connections. Gotta be realistic.
