btw no need for the explination and heart dude, i know it’s banter

I’m currently saving for a new imac, a soundcard (as i use a synth for mine right now and need the mci inputs etc now) and a few bits as i want to build a proper desk and all sorts to make my studio sound better.

Other than that soft synths and effects plug ins. Then alot of money goes on magazines and subscribtions like SA where i can read and learn about new tricks and tips
howiegroove (19/01/2011)

djc4 (18/01/2011)

howiegroove (18/01/2011)
Most of my money spent is on modules for my modular.
I’ve heard you mention this before. Excuse my lack of knowledge but what is it? :hehe:
Its alright dude, no sweat. We all start somewhere, so ask away.

I am into something called modular synthesis. Its kinda an advanced form of synthesis where you buy each piece of gear and do all the patching yourself. It basically gives you an infinite amount of routing options.

Have you ever seen those synthesizers from the 60’s and 70’s where it looks like there is spaghetti all over the walls? Thats what a modular is, and thats what I’m into. It’s definately very very advanced and takes a while to wrap your head around, but on the flip, its very addictive and very gratifying.

Looks like what Orbital use?

Im sure. Orbital has been around for a while.

Envy is one of the deadly sins Roben :P:hehe:

you can definitely get lost in a modular. it might take some more time to come up with something great, but you can get those WTF sounds pretty easily.
