Been wondering how to get that nice tension building swoosh effect that people tend to use a lot these days. I am working in Reason 4.0.
and another question;
I’m planning on investing in the forthcoming Ableton Live 8 coming later this year but for now I’m looking for a program that can handle wav files and be able to ‘slice and dice’ them so to speak. A vocal cutter in other words. Is there any freeware out there that would come in handy here?
and another one:
Are there more Reason oriented tutorials coming up soon?
The swoosh effect can be done so many different ways, here’s one example.
Take a subtractor and load a patch like Space Bugs. Wire it into a Matrix then draw an upward line on the matrix to fire off the sub every step at a different level. Hey presto, swoosh effect.
Or you can fire up Thor and tweak, I’m sure someone out there’s made a patch for it on reasonstation.net or similar.
As for a vocal cutter - get your hands on Recycle. It’s allows you to chop of audio files and import them into the NNXT/NN19/Dr Rex.
For something like an acapella I generally Recycle it, import it into Rex, then hit the To Track button. Then import the acapella into an NNXT and drag the midi notes over from the Rex track into the XT track so I can mess around with it a bit more.
Thanks very much for the swoosh tip. Very much appreciated. Will start messing around with it.
I have already considered ReCycle but since I’m getting Ableton I thought it would be a waste of money. That is why I asked for freeware recommendations
I just made the switch from Reason to Ableton and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.
You’ll be able to find a VST that caters to your need no worries.
I presonally love the Sylenth synth and the Z3ta. Kontakt is the best sampler I’ve ever used and I’ve got some incredible sounds out of it. All of them cost though.
