How To Make Modern UK Garage

View Course

Ableton Certified Trainer P-LASK is back this week with a brand-new ‘How To Make’ course, and this time he’s creating a Modern UK Garage track from scratch.

Taking inspiration from artists like Feline Teck, Sammy Virji, Shuga, and more, Paul sets about building a variety of clips in session view with drum patterns, synths designed in Ableton’s Operator, classic UK Garage vocal chops, and effects. After creating some scenes to help with the basic arrangement, we finalise the layout before tackling the mix and master, so the track can be played out.

As with all of P-LASK’s courses, this one is packed full of tips and tricks to improve your workflow in Ableton, and the result is a classic Garage track filled with a cool vibe, skippy beats, and groove.

Check it out!

Hi, on the pad and chord progression lesson, I can’t seem to find Sidechainer Smooth. Am I missing something here? Thank you.

Hi there @itstiilo and welcome aboard onto the forums ! :+1:

Sorry for the delayed reply over the weekend

Yeah, so you won’t have a device called “Sidechainer Smooth” by default inside Ableton Live, because it’s actually an Autopan Device with P-LASK own setting that was saved as a preset.

If you download the course’s resources files and open the Ableton Live Project, you’ll find a “Sidechainer Smooth” device on the BASS Track, you can simply save this as a preset for yourself if it’s something you’d like to use later :+1:

Hope that helps further ! Cheers :sunglasses:
