View Course

Hold on to your hats because this week Sonic Academy’s bringing you an epic monster of a course, proudly welcoming back psy-trance maestro Protoculture in How To Make Psy-Trance under his other alias Shadow Chronicles.

This incredible insight into Nate’s methods in Cubase, is a 7 hour journey where you get to watch a true master of his craft at work. Without holding your hand, there are heaps of pro tips and tricks to be gleaned from this course as we witness the creation of a world-class track completely built from the ground up.

From the first kick to layering basses and percussion through to creating awesome synth lead lines, extensive automation techniques and fx details, this track has it all, right through to the polished final master.

Make no mistake, this one is something truly special!

But it doesn’t stop there!!

Also with this course, we are running another fantastic remix competition! - The How To Make Psy Trance Remix Contest is exclusive, here on Sonic Academy and you could be in with a chance of winning some cool prizes and ultimately getting a release on leading Danish label of the global progressive and trance scene Iboga Records. Not limiting itself to one specific genre, Iboga Records have been responsible for hundreds of releases in a broad spectrum of electronic music. The main genres being Psy-trance, Techno and Downbeat Electronica.

After the recent success of our other remix competitions, we’re proud to have one of the best music-making communities anywhere, and the level of production skillz coming through the forums is truly amazing.
So, ourselves and Nate are super excited to see what you guys can come up with - we know you can smash it. You can now download the stems from this awesome tune and start working your magic!

We have shown you how to make the tune, now it’s over to you to get creative, make a dope remix of this track and show the world your production talent.

Just click the ‘Enter Remix Comp’ button above to find out more! This competition is open to all Sonic Academy registered users.

Contest ends - 16/03/2018 07:00:00 UTC

Man I love Nate, one of my favourite producers and if this course is anything like the Prog Trance one I’m gonna be glued to it for months!

Awesome! Looking forward to digging in to this!

This looks interesting
Time to check it out

so refreshing to see someone NOT using abelton.

Fantastic news, another tutorial from Nate Raubenheimer. I’ve completed his first tutorial and I’ll follow this also…

Awesome! Looking forward to this! Been waiting for one of these

Its 7 hours of pure goodness! This is a biggie and with a new Remix Comp!!

Ableton 10 user from 7 really wants to get Cubase Pro  Thanks for the awesome tutorial!

I’ve just downloaded the stems for the remix comp and put them into my DAW. However, track numbers 30, 34, 37, 38, 43, 50, and 54 appear to contain no audio at all: is that how it’s supposed to be? Just checking…cheers!

really happy to see a long video in cubase 9.5 … great & thumbs up !

Are the midi files included in the course resources?

I’ve just exported them, forgot to include them in the audio bounces, they should be available shortly.

Had a look through the project… those channels all have muted audio/midi parts that were rendered in place to new channels. It shouldn’t affect the project at all. I think I left some of them in so you could still see automation and which plugins were used on the source material.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know what’s up.
I don’t have Cubase, so can only use the audio stems, which means I can’t see any of the automation or plugins etc - which would probably be quite instructive…
Still trying to get my head around eighty-odd tracks!

Really very detailed and innovative!

Yesssss what an amazing course Protoculture. I learned so much from the Prog Trance one a while back and this one didn’t disappoint either :sunglasses: It’s courses like this that are the reason I’m a Sonic Academy member!

Now it’s time to get crackin’ on my remix!
