How To Make - Tech Trance in Studio One 4 / 646

Such a slow workflow Bjorn  But still happy to see someone using SO.

I just started up with the Sonic Academy a few weeks ago and my tracks have gotten astronomically better! I love all of the classes I watched so far!

Possibly daft newbie question - but where do I get the “Sonic Academy Sample Pack” used for the first kick in the second video?? I’ve downloaded all the project files for this course, as well as the 6 packs that come with Sonic one (Pro Demo) and the sample pack for signing up to the newsletter. Still don’t see all these samples he uses…!

Hi there @pstretton

Checking the video it looks to me as if Bjorn is using a custom named folder here, I can’t find a downloadable pack with a folder name “Sonic Academy Sample Pack” and kicks samples file names like Kick 01.wav / Kick 02.wav …etc.

So either he re-arranged and tagged some S.A samples or it could be that those kicks were generated with S.A Kick 2 Plugin and render as .wav files & organize in a library, but again it looks like a custom library IMO.

Maybe @bjornakesson could confirm this, thanks

Other drums samples packs from Sonic Academy are available for purchase too, but the files names don’t match either, but there’s a huge Ultimate Drums 1 & 2 collection packs there

Hey guys! @pstretton @Tekalight

I checked the folder and I found a Readme file inside.

It says:
“Sonic Academy
Gold Web Pass Sample Pack
Released: 11/10/2010”

I hope that helps, if not, then please reach out to the guys at Sonic Academy!

All the best,
Bjorn

Thanks a lot for checking this out & chiming in with the solution that was a light bulb
Just understood my confusion now…LOL

Cheers !

@pstretton

OK, so thanks to Bjorn I got it now, I was looking for this in the Sonic Academy packs available for sale and also in the Your Account/My Downloads/Samples area, thus I could never find it because this pack is actually in your “Subscriber Benefits” area on the site.

From the main page go to Your Account/Subscriptions/Subscriber Benefits/Sounds and this pack is the first one in the list “Subscriber Sample Packs - Sonic Academy Sample Pack

Now the content of this area might vary according to your subscription I suppose, this looks like a pack available for the “Gold” ( yearly subscription plan ).

If your are logged-in this link should work too : Sign Up

Just checked it and it’s the good one, found the same Readme file inside, and that kick 14 used in the tutorial is from there in the Drums/Kicks sub-folder.

Hi Guys!
@bjornakesson @Tekalight, thank you! I’d never have found those packs - got them, everything seems to be in them that’s needed in this tutorial so far.

So far, loving the course, Bjorn. First time making trance so this course is great to follow along with. Keep it up!

Fantastic course. Clear explanations all around. Bjorn is a great tutor. Plus for a Studio One user, since v3 it was great to see a handful of tips and tricks that I hadn’t managed to pick up on my own. Bravo!

Which Studio One 4 version do you use ? Artist or Professionnal ?

Love this tutorial. I’ve learnt a lot of practical things. Thank You.

@renoke Bjorn is using Studio One Pro v4.

That was amazing! I really did learn a lot of things. As a Studio One user this is unvaluable. But i am pretty sure most of things can apply to other DAWs as well. Thanks!

Excellent work

Rare Studio One tutorial. I learned a lot about daw tricky using and arrangement. Hope to have more Studio One tutorials for other genres.

Hey there @BAK3R

The Nicky Romero Kickstart Plugin is available for demo & purchase here https://www.kickstart-plugin.com/

You can also use alternative tools such as Xfer Records “LFO Tools” & Devious Maschines “Duck” to achieve similar results.

Hope this helps

Cheers !
