How to make that dutch house synth

Hi

How do you make a dutch house synth in Sylenth ? You know this kind of pitched sound :

Starts at 0:51

Run your finger nails down a chalk board

haha, i’m on a roll

To actually get this sound tho I’m pretty sure its to do with glide. Start with a basic synth sound, a saw wave style pre set should do. I think your notes around octave 4 should be high enough.

Make sure you have glide, about 50% should be enough. Then its all about your midi pattern. You need short notes that overlap slightly. Like in this screen

I’ve just tried this myself and got a really basic dutch sound. Will need a lot of tweaking but its a start. Hope this helps pal

There’s a free synth out called Asynth, check out the preset detuned MS-20 lead. Also two presets on the oddity called distorted duo 1 and 2. If you want to try create it yourself grab sylenth and layer a saw with a sine or triangle depending on how you smooth you want it. Distort it and mess about with your portamento settings and as said before have midi patterns accross a few octaves to get some nice glide. Another cool thing to check out is trying out automation on the midi clips pitch envelope. That should be enough to get you started. Also about 85% of the Dutch house stuff is being made on fl studio. That sorta lead originally came from the 3osc and the WASP. It’s all about the portamento/glide and the pitch modulation.

Thank you guys I’m gonna try it out

Check out this … i used blue for it …

And also used fab filter in this one …

Is this the kind of thing ur after?

I’m sorry im not sure how to embed the players

don’t know if this is any good for you.

Yes it’s that kind of sound I wanna make but I doesn’t succeed with the Sylenth.

I listened to your sounds and it’s quite the sounds i’m after. I have blue but what kind of fabfilter plug in are you talking about ?

I appreciate your help

i used fab filter twin for that one

I have it but it’s a bit complicated. Do you have the preset you used ? For studying it

I can’t hand that preset out mate just becuase i want to try and keep the sound for future tracks with lempo as its different to most dutch sounds out there

how ever ill crack it open now and give u a few of the basic pointers that will help you get that

Its a saw wave … just single oscilator

with the filter slightly adjusted as a peak

the portamento turned up and set on normal (rather than using a pitch bend layer the notes)

its also set to mono rather than stereo
