I’ve been playing around with this sound lately.br
br
Most of the instruments are real instruments. Its just being classified with other EDM because of that cliche 4 on the floor beat that goes with it… Plus there are synths too obviously. But I don’t see how this is ‘edm’ any more than a mainstream pop song is now.br
br
Pan Flute is used in it, REAL guitar strums or very nicely sampled strums- PLAYED correctly. Real saxophones, steel drums, nice jazzy chords etc…Sorry guys but this genre is gonna involve everyone having to know some music theory. All you suckers over the last few years saying theory doesn’t matter…haha I love it. Start learning.br
br
Thats what I like about the way “edm” is going. People are starting to like melody and instruments again rather than having a drop that goes like this…br
br
"G-G-G-G-G-G-G-F-(SAMPLE CHANGE)-G-G-G-G-WRONG NOTE-G-G-G"br
br
With all that being said id still love to see a tut. br

+1 for tropical house tutorial

There are probably quite a lot of good resources on this site to produce this kind of style already as it really is a combination of a few genres to create this new sound.br
br
For the beats and general groove, any of the deep house tutorials will take you most of the way there with the sound. br
br
For the melodic element, have a look at the Melodic Techno tutorial with Chymera:br
http://www.sonicacademy.com/Training+Videos/Course+Overview//How-To-Make-Melodic-Techno-with-Chymera.cid6993br
br
When watching the tutorials, try not to take them literally and instead think of other ways of using them. Possibly an EDM line learnt in one of other videos would be a great basis for a Tropical house track if you changed the instrument to a marimba or xylophone and slow it all right down.br
br
That’s how these sub-genres (sub-sub-sub-genres in most cases) are made, by blending the techniques of different genres together so might be worth starting there

Great tips @DirtySecretz!!!

+1 SA really need to to add a how to on this… SAX deep house would be my first request but tropical be nice too
