while filtering a “clip” …do you know how to set the Q flawlessly?
not really lol don’t think i’ve heard a flawless filter sweep. as with any eq a wide q will sound smoother but effect a bigger range of frequencies, were as a tight q will be more clinical and sound harsher and slightly sharp.
it’s possible to do on a single loop but i don’t think you’ll get a flawless filter sweep over a full mix as the filters going to react differently to different sounds as you sweep through the frequencies.
sorry … I was meaning on a single loop of course …
yeah do it by ear mate, each loop is going to have different sounds and they will all have slight variations in how they sound filtered.
+1 to what Jon said.
in fact it’s wot I was doing but i wanted to be sure … as you know production answers to straight rules and I was wondering if there was a rule 4 it too…
^^^ not sure i agree with that man, i’ve always been under the assumption that pretty much anything goes in production and nothing really is right or wrong, if it sounds cool then it’s good.
I wish I was as confident as you but definitly not …
the thing with dance music is that unlike rock and pop music dance music generally benefits from misuse of plugins and most genres have been “created” with a misuse of a process or effect.
gain pumping, sidechain are just two effects that stick out in my mind for deliberate abuse of a processor
you right dude …
