UnitedVision (30/11/2010)
that website is expensive. $15 a month? for JUST trance tips? i dunno…
hope you guys can provide some insight into if its worth it or not.
worth a look, free for the 1st month… if it turns out to be no good I’ll cancel
georgekadar (30/11/2010)

jjdejong0 (30/11/2010)
Yeah mabey its a good thing that all the trance heads post up seperate topics asking for their preverred style. I hope if sean tyas wins!
i’ve just asked him to change one of my votes to sean tyas coz i dont want armin to win!!!
the guy is the best DJ and the best character on the decks by a mile, but there are so many better producers on that list isnt there!!!
+1 on Sean Tyas vote
if you haven’t already seen it make sure you watch “In the Studio with Sean Tyas” sponsored by Future Music Magazine. The tricks and things this guy does trough out this remix cannot be matched in other tuts. It’s a gold mine of info if you really watch it. It’s done in Logic so you have try to watch it through Ableton eyes. He touch’s on so many things that are standard in Trance. Acids, pads, melody’s, breaks, automation you name it. It’s kind of long but it worth every minute, and if your really want to learn from it watch it over… and over… and over!!
Or, instead of paying £15 a month to this guy, pledge the £15 to Sonic Academy on the basis they promise to make us some sh*t hot trance tutorials?!
I know a subscription here is already being paid, but how about all chirping in for some kinda awesome tutorial?

I’m fed up of waiting, I dont think its gonna happen, or at least not for a long long time. Its house and tech so unless there is something for us trance heads soon I’ll have no choice but to not renew. I willl come back when and if there is ever something new aim at us trance head. I feel sonic has left us to out to rott at the moment. They refuse to even give us any kind of update in relation to trance tuts at all, and dont even comment on any trance topics, so time to look somewhere else.I feel I have given it enough time.
I absolutely love the sean tyas future music videos, there all up on youtube now too. Ive seen them a fair few times but i was wondering if someone could clear something up for me. In one part of the video he talks about using ‘probably one THE most used presets in all of trance’. It looks like hes talking about a preset on the Ohm Boys, and i think he says its called the ‘soa’? Its really hard to hear what he says. But does anyone know what preset hes talking about i would love to know. I have the ohm boys and there is no preset called the Soa. Nor do have i heard ne presets that instantly say trance to me or atleast not one that would be justified in being the most used preset in all of trance as Mr Tyas says. So ne ideas? Would love to know!

agree!
if that scott pulls this off, i’ll unfortunately be leaving.
as for that £15 roben… good idea… wont happen though
Its al their Wayne they have just split it into 3 parts instead of 4. I agree with Roben i think alot of people are just fed up with asking SA for trance. We either fet ignored or told by Bry to shut up, stop asking and get an answer of it will be out when its out. Meanwhile the house people get to cream there pants every few weeks. I mean dont get me wrong i like House and i enjoyed the mainroom house stuff. The Techno and Minimal stuff i could of done without but according to Phil they are the best sold series which really really worries me. I really cannot get my head around how anyone could like this stuff, i seriously dont see the appeal of listening to the same loop for 8 minutes. I mean music should have emotion it should have something that connects with the listener. Sad moments and happy moments, uplifting, exciting etc etc etc. How does the same loop over and over layered with a few out of key melodies have any of that? But neways im going off topic but to another poster Trance Music Mastery isnt just paying 15 quid a month to listen to a few vague trance tips. He says he is going to show you how to make a proffesional sounding trance track from start to finish based on a different producers style and song each month which is voted by the subscribers. SA could take a page out of the vote for what you want book cos it seems anyone can come here and post a HTSL request and get it the following week. Just as long as hes not asking for trance that is I remember SA had a poll vote thingy i say bring it back ane make it only for subscribers.
I dunno, perhaps i’m just being too much of a sceptic but i don’t think this guy will be able to deliver what he’s promising.
Don’t lose faith in SA guys, there was only a handful of people on the forums that were requesting the Tech Minimal tuts and look what happened when SA finally caved and delivered?
It ended up being one of the best selling tutorial series.
The demand for trance is out there, and even for those who arn’t into trance, it’s such a good genre to learn A LOT of pro stuff from and take those tricks and tips to use in whatever genre you prefer to produce.
For example Trance has incredible low end, the basslines and the really solid kicks, you could easily take those ideas and tips and transfer it to House and Tech.
Then there is the aspect of needing to know musical theory and especially the skill of getting elements to gel well together in trance, if any genre where it’s highly important in getting your elements to sit well together, it’s in trance.
So again, those skills can be transfered.
Trance is also heavily focused on melody and chords, more pro stuff that is important to know and can be easily transfered.
I HATE fidget house, but i still watched the tutorial and learned stuff from it and used what I learned and transfered it to other genres i’ve produced.
In fact, i’ve done that with everything i’ve watched and learned, there is no hard and fast rules for anything in music so who’s stopping you using something you’ve learned in your clowncore acid jazz funk tutorial and applying it to your dubstep productions?
Tbh i dont think you need to pick one or the other im happy subscribing to both. The good thing with trance music mastery is the first month is free. So will this Scott dude deliver on all his promises? Only time will tell, but if he does SA is gonna have to get there acts together and release a massive series on Trance cos this puts them in the advantage due to all the other stuff they have tutorials on. Its ok going to trance music mastery and learning all the different styles of trance but after a while will prolly get a bit tiring and most will probably subscribe to the series on a particular producer they really like. But seriously they have Scott Mclean… Who the **** is Scott Mclean!!! SA has Phil Johnston!! Eg Coast 2 ***** Coast. They also may possibly have CHRIS AGNELLI!! Obviously we dont know the full behind the scenes stuff and Phil has said he doesnt feel trance nemore so mabey he is a bit out of depth with modern trance, i find that hard to believe tho especially if yoour 1/3 of a group that made one of the all time trance classics! On paper SA really do have the advantage in trance considering the tutors, but this Scott Mclean may be some hidden trance guru or just a really good producer/sound engineer that can make anything he hears a few examples from, and mabey he thinks trance is the niche in the market. We will soon see though it starts tomorrow. If i was SA though i would make Trance my no1 priority right now they could lose customers if TMM is a success. Also ne1 ne further info on that sean tyas preset lol?
yeah who the hell is scott mcclean eh… his tunes in the background sounded ok but nothing that I was like wow at. but as he is gonna base it on other peoples tunes, well if he has a good ear etc etc and can pull tunes apart and and reconstruct them bit by bit like he says, well we’re in for a treat… its a big if however, BIG IF.
Lets just hope he isnt conning everyone into giving their credit card details!
Also, when the feck are future music gonna install screen recording software for in the studio! Grrrr
gotta start using the v-station more… anyone use this much??
Also has any got any links to tuts on fab filters? I know sean tyas uses them, I have them but they boggle my head!
Well i’m very reluctant to putting in my bank details, even with a free month, i’m not sold. So i’ll leave it and wait for the feedback from you guys as to whether it’s worth it or not.

paypal to be safe
Yeh its very hard to con people if everyone uses paypal lol. That filter Sean uses is really simple Wayne but like Sean says you have to initialize it or reset it and start with a blank canvas. God damn i want the most used preset in all of trance! Can no one make out what he says? Also regarding Scott Mclean and the background music i think its pretty much identical sound wise to what you hear on a state of trance or trance around the world it sounds very proffesional but i always though it was just a few different tracks from various trance artists that he used to spice up his videos a bit and create some mood. What makes you think they are his tracks? If they are his then this gets better ans better. Also i think your all being a bit hard on the guy, you make it sound like he HAS to deliver x0000000000 amount of things for you to be happy?? Its free, you are involved as a subscriber and the videos are of good quality touching on alot of stuff that goes beyond jus how to make a trancy lead sound using the Nexus… He is also asking people to post up their gear so he will try encorporate what the majority of people have. Really what would someone have to do in a trance tutorial to make everyone happy??? Come round to your house and make the track for you? Really this thing is free and even IF he doesnt deliver on everything he says im sure we will all learn something! Also even if its complete garbage what have you lost as an investment??? Nothing because its freeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Scott McLean’s timing could not be any better. I think we all need to get used to producer wanna be’s starting new websites on how to create different types of music. It’s a great idea if you think about it. I’m actually surprised there aren’t more of them. What’s the overhead? A camera, computer, access virus, and couple of key plugins and wala your in business. 15 a month times a hundred are so members. Not bad!!!

i was thinking longer term mate, ie, is it gonna be worth paying for, thats way I say big if… we’ll see
Yeahbut he really has to deliver in the first month or no one will subscribe. I think he should start also trying to get his work released or release some credits of what he may have been involved with in the past. The success will solely rely on the quality of his teaching, the results of his pupils and the end product of the tracks he makes and how close they resemble the style and artist that he is trying to recreate. But yeah if its trash you will be sat there with your overhead cam, screen recorder, access virus and a pile of bills from debt collectors. This is what worries me about this whole thing, he has expensive equipment, proffesional recording possibilities (audio and video and screen) he seems well educated, theory wise and just in terms of being an audio engineer and producer… So how is he financing this, it cant be cheap? Plus hes doing everything for free so for the moment he has 0 income via the web… It just doesnt make sense…
