possible tech tip?

You’re going to have to post examples or you won’t get too much help.

And chances are someone has already asked this. Try the ‘Search’ function and query ‘deadmau5’.

Good luck.

**** i was ment to post up the link! here

It mainly just the sample from the track only he adds a nice electro bass/synth. He also add a heavy kick drum & sidechain. For the raspy bass Ohmforce ohicide will probably get close. Automate it a bit when you get your desired result as well. Once you’ve done this you will probably lost alot fo the low end of your original bass so add another bass to the track playing the same notes with just a low sine/triangle.

Then experiment and ****.

lovley thank you!

you could also just apply the effect (distortion) as a send effect. SEND out your original bass to the effects making sure you do it pre fader.

well… from what i recall when i listened to it, it goes up an octave or 2 later in the track… so instead of tackling on a multi-osc sound head on, you can create the ‘sub’ bassline as a separate track - 8th notes, i believe (haven’t listened to it recently, but that’s traditional deadmau5)

then create the distorted mid bass to sit over sub… which i believe plays a 16th pattern… and then a 3rd track duplicating the mid bass (not distorted… maybe it is) an octave or 2 higher for the ‘peak’ sound toward the end of the track.

this way… all you have to do is mix accordingly and you have the chuggy bass but faster mid/high bass

this is what i heard yesterday, based on your link… i do remember, however, that it was an emulation recreated… and was overly compressed and had very little definition between the bass (so my 16th notes are just a guess)

how would you guys recommend keeping th distortion under control without it going mad and takin over the mix???
