I ***** hate work!

Seriously, if i had one wish it would be that a nice banker would come along and give me what i earn now a month at my job to sit at home and mess around in the studio i would be happy. its just so annoying when you get working on a track and your filled with ideas to have to go to work and come home shattered. Of course the economy doesnt make things any better so i guess i should be happy that i at least have a job and make a decent living but its sooooo soul destroying. I feel like im living out a never ending prison sentance because i cant make enough money doing what i love. I know im not the only one going through this and its very hard to turn your hobby into your work but dear god its just becoming heart wrenching at times.

i also noticed that there is a huge coming of new young producers and dj’s and my guess is its cos they dont have to worry about jobs yet. They are in a nice little bedroom living with mum and dad and no worries what so ever. So this one goes out to all the producers that have to work and put their producing to the side at times!

Cheers! :smooooth:

So true - I feel your pain.

They want you to be worn down by debt and taxes until you are dependent and helpless. When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both.”

Each of us tend to think we see things as they are,

that we are objective. But this is not the case. We see

the world, not as it is, but as we are - or as we are conditioned to see it.

Im in same position dude-grabbing 30mins at a time is infuriating. Progress is slower but never give up!

Sometimes I just focus on writing a bass patch and am satisfied if i get a decent one out of 30 mins, other times ill just watch some sonic academy tutorials.

Honestly I don’t need any new gear or tools, I just want some time lol.

This is what seperates the people who THINK they really want to be a producer, from the people that really DO want to be a producer!

It’s a really hard thing to do - to work full-time and then on top of that put hours and hours of your time outside of work into learning to produce.

But if you love doing it enough, and you want it enough - you’ll do it no matter what.

It’s as simple as that.

Having said that, i do know that there are a fair few up-and-coming producers now that have got so good at producing within a relatively short space of time, because they have purposely remained unemployed for years!

They blag the system, and then do stuff on the side like sell drugs to earn some decent money to survive/pay bills etc!

That’s the other route to go down, but obviously it is less ethical than working!

I will take 50% of your advice.

Davidmclean although i understand your mentality cos i had it myself at one point its just not realistic. You know what seperates people who want to be producers and will do anything to make it happen and people that dont? The street, cos thats what will happen to you if you dont pay your bills.

I think it’s perfectly realistic.

In my experience, the infamous 10,000 hour rule applies i.e. you need to spend 10,000 hours practising anything to master it.

So the calculation is that, if you spend 20 hours a week producing (perfectly feasable even on top of a full-time job), then it will take you 9 and a half years to master producing.

But this is ‘mastering’ it - general concensus is that you could get good enough to turn professional/get signed etc after about 6 to 7 years.

So the question is - are you personally prepared to commit 20 hours a week of your life to producing for the next 6/7 years?

If not, then stop harbouring any dreams of getting good enough to turn pro now and do something else for the rest of your life, like carry on working in a 9-5 office job until you retire!

If yes, then congratulations because you have just realised exactly how much hard work, dedication and commitment it takes to get to the top of dance music production, and you must truly love making music enough to be prepared to put in the extreme amount of hard work and personal sacrifice that it takes.

This is the reality my friend - you need to decide if you’re up for it or not?!

take as an example Paul for Example , he works and produce awesome Music at the same time . u just need to find the right balance and organize more your time. if u have ideas write it in a paper. and if u dont know how to do it . study music composition , writing , ETC. i am in the same situation than u and i got fired from my work . and now i wish i could still have a job because i can at least work at home with out worrying the next bill.

Feel your pain, you find once you’ve got back from work in the evenings you’re so brain f*cked that it’s difficult to be creative and focus on music production.

Was so much better when I was just working nights, because I’d find I’d produce in the day then work after.

I’m purposelly limiting myself to a **** job right now (with **** pay to match i might add!), so that i can have more time to produce and can concentrate more on production.

It means that i generally get home earlier (i can leave dead on 5 every day), and because my days at work don’t put any stress on me at all, i am pretty fresh when i get home ready to make music!

I see this as quite a big sacrifice, but at the end of the day, trying to end up doing something i love for a career, instead of just doing a job cos it’s convenient or good pay etc, is more important to me, so i’m willing to make that sacrifice!

I feel your pain! My unemployment insurance is running out and now I am forced to go back to drawing pictures all day :doze::laugh:

Anyone know much about what is going on in Berlin regarding this topic i.e. i’ve heard that there’s a big community of ‘unemployed’ creative people who sack off work and just want to spend all day doing creative stuff like making dance music!

People convince themselves of their own lies, becoming victims of

their own inventions as they begin to direct their lives by standards

of behavior, ideas, feelings, or instincts which do not correspond to

their inner reality. What is truly serious in this matter is that the

individual loses all points of reference regarding what comprises truth,

and what comprises lies. He becomes used to considering as true only

that which is convenient for his personal interests; everything that

is in opposition to his self-esteem or in conflict with already

established prejudices, he considers false.

‘’Ordinary people are troubled because they have so many

desires which cannot be satisfied.’’

I know you’re troubled by many things in the world.I felt that the world was always full of suffering and confusion, what’s the point of living in such a world?

Even so,why are humans born on this Earth? When no one can escape from this perfect and eternal thing called Death…

One man’s life, when compared to this, is nothing more than a blink of an eye…

And during this instant, a man is born,laughs,shed tears,fights,gets injured,feels happiness,sadness,hatred towards people,love towards others…

All this only last an instant.

And in the end,he falls into this deep and eternal slumber called Death.

What is it that makes you sad? What is making you feel like this?

By seeing people in struggle, it seemed to me that rather than living, they

wished for death. Are humans born on this Earth to only feel pain and sadness?

Who would wish for a life make only of suffering?

If there is pain, there must be happiness. And the opposite is also true.

In this world, everything with life changes with each instant.Like a constant move.

This is uncertainty. And this is the same for human life. But, in the end, as long as Death waits at the end of the path, isn’t sadness going to dominate their life’s?

During their lives, even if they try to dominate the pain, to seek love and happiness, won’t all of this be turned to nothing by Death? You, so have you forgotten… Forgotten? Death is not the end of everything.Death is only one more transition.

Our living standards are being attacked. People loosing their jobs, there is fast inflation, taxes and food prices are rising, and we still make the same low salaries.Big corporations pay slave wages and you have debt.People are overworked living paycheck to paycheck trying to make ends meet.Being discriminated and disrespected at work without job satisfaction.Every year youth graduate schools to few job opportunities and there is virtually no anger or protest at all – why is that? To what this world comes to? You can’t get a job unless you have experience , but you can’t get experience without a job.Unemployment is killing people physically and emotionally.People have break downs, get stressed so bad that they use drugs, alcohol or smoke.Even worst some become mentally ill.Government is creating psychiatric civilization of people.

“A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude. To make them love it is the task assigned, in present-day totalitarian states, to ministries of propaganda, newspaper editors and schoolteachers… The greatest triumphs of propaganda have been accomplished, not by doing something, but by refraining from doing. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth.” The government is staffed by Idiots and Dinosaurs.I’ll be so happy when they just eat one another.Go extinct. They are dangerous.
